Interesting feedback from Flyers (Briere, Bryz, Timonen) regarding the lockout/Snyder etc.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/

Unsure how to actually link the video, but it's immediately to the right at this time. (Holding out Hope)

The NHL and NHLPA are also ready to restart CBA negotiations, possibly as soon as tomorrow.
Good news I guess that they are resuming talks.

50-50, 5 or 6 year term before another CBA should be discusses, more revenue sharing, a bit lower cap floor. I could see it happen... if they aren't stupid.

Devils board posted this petition. Basically sign it and then refuse to use the services of the companies that have financial ties to the teams.

Looks like I'll be seeing my movies at Loews, shopping at Target, and ordering my vacation tickets via <insert cheap airline that's not JetBlue here>. Let's be honest, no one eats at Denny's anymore, do they?

I was busy today but looks like the NHL and NHLPA met today.. Here's some tweets

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Bettman, Daly, D. Fehr, S. Fehr plus possibly a few players all to meet today for "informal" talks...

Real_ESPNLeBrun: No agenda to the meeting, no new proposals expected but it's hoped a candid discussion...

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle
The NHL-NHLPA negotiating session today between the big four (Bettman, Fehr, etc.) is still going after more than two hours. Interesting.

Chris Botta ‏@ChrisBottaNHL
NHL meeting is over. Could continue today, maybe tomorrow.

Chris Botta ‏@ChrisBottaNHL
Don Fehr didn't say much, just that NHL and NHLPA "are still trying to bridge the gap."

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl
Don Fehr said there is really no news to report and he did not want to say what was discussed. It's possible they meet again later today.

Katie Strang ‏@KatieStrangESPN
#CBA Fehr said the intent of today's meeting was to "try and bridge the gap" but wouldn't predict when more formal discussions would resume

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl
To be clear, Fehr said the sides may meet again today, or possibly tomorrow. "We don't know yet. We're each going to do some work."

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl
Gary Bettman said the sides anticipate getting back together again, but like Fehr, he didn't know if it would be today.

Katie Strang ‏@KatieStrangESPN
#CBA NHL commissioner Gary Bettman also declined to characterize meeting but said "it's always good to have dialogue"

Kevin Paul Dupont‏@GlobeKPD
League and PA say little after today's session. Often an initial sign of progress. Less interest in using media as strategy.

John Shannon ‏@JSportsnet
Players and League will meet again late this afternoon. Progress? Don't count on it. Hope? As long as they meet, there's always hope.

Afternoon meeting tweets :

Renaud P Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS
Talks are done for tonight in NY. NHL and NHLPA won't decide the next step before Saturday.

mirtle: Lengthy CBA meetings today/tonight have to be taken as good sign. Still not certain they'll miss games at this point so time to get serious.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Good, candid discussion in negotiations today. NHL and NHLPA will determine when the next meeting will be tomorrow.

If I remember correctly the NHLPA refuse the change because of the extra travel it would bring and were concern about the new playoff format.

EDIT: I found this link http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/74...rgaining-salvo

It was a half assed attempt at alignment.. they had no real schedule made up and they had divisions that weren't equal in size. The inequality was to potentially give the league room for expansion. Why would the players agree to something that they weren't given an example of it AND allow for the league the chance to expand while the league was saying that they are losing money?

Now your looking at it in the Players perspective only. If you look at it through the league's perspective, why would the league waste time and money on something that was refused right off the bat for a reason that can not be worked on (travel).

Honestly the league didn't spend much time on it at all. They had no real mock schedule made up to give the players and example of what the season would be like

On an unrelated note :

Quote:
Under Alberta labour law, the NHL cannot hold a lockout vote unless it has first requested a mediator.
Yes, the league did request a mediator.
Yes, on Aug. 21, the province did appoint a mediator.
But the NHLPA argues that the entire exercise was faulty.
Because?
The league showed no willingness to participate in the mediation.
According to the union, the process, at the NHL’s insistence, was halted after only three days — without a single meeting between the sides. Law requires a 14-day wait for the mediator.
Quote:
In Ontario earlier this week, the NHLPA discovered that its request to have that province mediate the sides’ differences had been rejected, the Toronto Star reported Friday.

Further, the province gave permission to the NHL to lock out players on the Ontario-based teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators, on Sept. 15.
Pretty bush league tactics

Pretty bush league tactics
The Montreal Gazette is reporting a similar approach in Quebec with respect to the illegality of the Canadiens employees (ie, players) being locked out.

Send a message via AIM to DrinkFightFlyers
So I don't know if this means anything but a couple months ago I won an autographed Giroux jersey but haven't gotten it bc of playoffs and his injury/the offseason. I got an email today saying I'd get it when the season begins in October.

some new tweet today

Aaron Ward‏@aaronward_nhl

Per source,NHLPA offer similar to last but includes incentives. They feel their offer gives the solution.Debate has been over TIMING

Aaron Ward‏@aaronward_nhl

so that more than just NHL negotiating committee sees it,and that the BOG meeting Thursday may get a look. Also considered no offer

Aaron Ward‏@aaronward_nhl

Key today is Don Fehr has 'flexibility' to move during the meeting today. #TSN

thats all so far, will see it seems what i understand. NHLPA new offer includes incentives, so are they willing to concieve or give in to something

Im nervous. This is a huge time for us right now. The meetings just end after 2.5 hours of negotiating. I'm hoping these morons can't put their ego's aside and make a deal work for the both of them.

At least it doesn't take a day or more to make a counter. Progress!

From what I hear, it's progress...but I still don't understand it all. But as a fan, part of me wants the players to accept so we can start playing, and part of me wants them to pass on it, and keep fighting for what they deserve.
