Its a Popularity Contest, nothing more. They might as well made it a "Who has the Best Hair?" Poll.

What's wrong with 74? I'm such a sucker for odd ball numbers. Love Loki in 48, and King in 74. Same thing with Carter in 77 and Bernier with 45.

Bernier isn't in the same situation as Smyth & Conroy, who Lombardi traded away when they were both 35 y/o and had a combined 28 years of NHL Experience. Both were UFA eligible at the end of their deals as well.

Bernier has little or no status in the league at this point having averaged 12 games in 4 seasons and is a RFA after this upcoming season. I can't imagine he'd get an offer that wasn't more worth matching from anyone, assuming the same RFA rules exist after these CBA negotiations.

The only leverage Bernier has is having a loud mouth agent in the media's ear every week complaining about trade requests and playing time. Bernier wouldn't be wise to complain about anything himself playing for a Stanley Cup Winner. GMs are watching and character matters to most of them.

JB45 will get dealt, I don't think there's any question about that, but he doesn't have the same clout Smyth and Conroy did, he doesn't have any extra leverage on the Kings since UFA is a ways away for him and Quick is almighty in this town.

Sorry JB, you're probably going to need to have more patience.

While all of this may or may not be entirely correct the point remains that it is still possible based on past practices that DL could send JB "closer to home" and that is the point of both ZS and my own responses. He also dealt BBoyle closer to his home as requested.

The rest is the rest, the rather or not JB has any leverage is irrelevant.

If DL finds a deal that he likes that is closer to Quebec then the Southern States then where JB wants to go can become a factor.

The point is that DL takes a players desires into consideration as part of making a deal when it comes to moving them, his past record shows that to be true.

I am interested too see how he performs this next season.

The Blues have no other D man like him. It took two seasons for league to figure out how to get Drew off his game.

I expect the same to happen to Pietrangelo. The Kings made him look average in the playoff's

Teams will study that tape over, and over again.

I expect a struggle for Pietrangelo, teams are going to chirp , hit , and take his ice away.

Drew really learned to adjust in the Playoff's.

This is the most common sense post about Bernier and his trade request that I have read.

I don't care who it offends, I'll take Drew Doughty over any defenseman in the NHL without hesitation.

You're probably not going to offend too many people in the Kings section of this site saying that. Try the Blues section or the main section if you want to offend someone.

Yeah, as of right now I certainly don't think Drew is the best defenseman in the NHL, but given how young and talented (with a good contract) he is, I think Drew is the most valuable defenseman in the NHL.

edit: For the record, I would put Pietrangelo right behind Drew and Karlsson a distant third.

Age is my number one factor. 22 and played as good, if not better than, all of his competition when it mattered most.

This, and that's been his rep since the Olympics.

Look at how Pietrangelo wilted on the big stage. That guy lost his marbles in the Kings-Blues series. I'm sure he'll rebound and have a big year; he's a great player. But Doughty was, by a long shot, the best defenseman in the playoffs. Look at the matchups against the oppositions top young d-men--Edler was uncharacteristically horrible, Pietrangelo looked shaky, Yandle/OEL were solid-but-unspectacular, and...Larsson(?), I suppose, was eating popcorn while the rest of the Devils' D was just kind of there. Doughty blew every last one of them out of the water, and that was a significant difference.

Taylor Hall is world behind Seguin imo.

Seguin is a more complete player. If I were to make a rudimentary comparison...I would say Seguin is like Messier where as Hall is Bure.

Hall also has way too many injury problems already.

The Edmonton Oilers are your winners of the 2012 Internet Cup.

I thought when we got rid of Schenn, we didn't have to put up with Toronto proposals anymore. Now there are three on the main page of the trade board. They just never end.

One Toronto proposal with Philly will live on in infamy. He included a guy who he labeled a "bad-decent prospect". Classic!
