Huh... that seems a little out of left field? All we'd heard thus far was that his recovery was going well and he was set to return in less than a week now I think?
FYI, he might need surgery, which would end the season for him. Decision soon, according to a journalist on the local paper there, Värmlands Folkblad. Says there'll be an article in tomorrow's paper.

21st was the day he was going to be back we got told a few days ago.
this is what, the 4th time in the last few years where this has happened? (going from a small injury, to longer one, to out for the year).... the oilers players really are cursed it seems... it would be funny if it wasn't so rage-inducing
This just in on Twitter from Swedish journalist Johan Eriksson: ”Shoulder injury suffered over a month ago. Will be going doing medical exam in Gothenburg and Edmonton soon.”
This will happen in the next couple of days, Eriksson said when I asked for more details via Twitter.
“Will do so in a couple of days. And recovery time for surgery, if that is what’s decided, is approximately six months. He says: ‘If the decision is surgery I will be out six months and playing more this season is out of the question. If that’s the case it’s just for me to start focusing on the next season.”
A small “silly” mistake led to Klefbom being hurt, according to Eriksson. “He said himself one month ago: ‘It was a silly thing. I was reaching for the puck, lost balance and got a hit at the same time.’”
One fan asked Eriksson: ”Will this delay projected NHL debut next year? Or when he’s recovered will he try for the Oil?”
Eriksson: “Estimated recovery time for surgery is about six months so probably no.”
Another fan, John. W, suggested the NHL season wasn’t going to happen, so this would give Klefbom plenty of time to recover before next year.
Eriksson responded: “Well, it’s happening here in Sweden so every week out means missed games that would give him experience.”
Not that I want to see him miss a year but if it's something that can be corrected now, I'd like to see him do surgery, don't let it become something more then it is.
This injury could quite easily place a "trade bait" label on Klefbom next year.
If anything it makes him more untradeable.
His is a project who was just starting to progress, if he had played the whole year his value would be very high but now Im not sure teams will value a D prospect with a season ending injury to high.
He is the most intriguing D prospect besides Schultz tho
In related news, RNH stunned his toe last night. He was found dead this morning...
Sorry, I know it's not funny, but does this happen to other teams with the frequency that it does with the Oilers (as in, a player gets a seemingly minor injury that turns into months of missed time)?
I'd like to see the Oilers really try to solve this shoulder injury thing. They need to hire some specialists to get these guys fixed. But more importantly focus on prevention. Maybe its yoga or some kind of physio that ALL of the players should be doing. Its costing them too much to keep being reactive rather than proactive.
I hate to say it but Klefbom seems a little injury prone, not a good sign AT ALL.
I'm not saying that he will bust by any means because of this but it does raise some major concerns especially with shoulder injuries. Lets hope that he doesn't need season ending surgery because that would be a very important missed season of development. Ah well, he's an Oiler so i expect the worst case scenario to play out.
This long, extended offseason has been one enormous **** show for the Oilers organization and the NHL in general.
I wished he had come over here for this season and be playing in the AHL right now. But yes, it's alarming that he is injured so much. Hope this is the last major injury for him for the foreseeable future...
Maybe he can come back for OKC playoffs. If not it would be good for him to come to OKC next season and play half a season to get adjusted to both NA ice and hockey itself

Uh, why? He got hit out of position reaching for a puck, before that he's basically been an ironman for the Swedish JR's and his league team and league JR team.
He doesn't have an injury history at all.
Second point, our best prospects in NA are 1,2,3 in scoring in the AHL and Hall I'm sure won't be far behind once he gets some more games in. Our best prospect not in NA is among the league leading goal scorers in the KHL, a notoriously stingy league. It sucks we don't get to watch the Oilers but it hasn't been all fire and brimstone.

Again, have you ever seen Klefbom? The kid is a monster, physique is not his problem. He got caught out of position a bit and took an awkward hit. Could have happened to anybody and has nothing to do with the bolded...

This is his 3rd or 4th injury since being drafted by the Oilers IIRC. Albeit this sounds the most serious, but it's not like he's been a beacon of health, quite the opposite actually.

I thought this was only his 2nd? Maybe SouthSwe can confirm

Uhhh yeah, I've seen him. The problem is not physical strength. It could be training the wrong way or not stretching properly. I'm not looking at his shoulder injury being a one-off. Its something that PLAGUES this team. If every year we're losing a few important pieces to shoulder injuries, its time too look at the problem.
The way Gernat was handled and the fact the Hall was allowed to play on a wonky shoulder for so long in losing seasons doesn't give me very much faith that the Oilers are taking this seriously.
