He doesn't have an injury history at all.

Second point, our best prospects in NA are 1,2,3 in scoring in the AHL and Hall I'm sure won't be far behind once he gets some more games in. Our best prospect not in NA is among the league leading goal scorers in the KHL, a notoriously stingy league. It sucks we don't get to watch the Oilers but it hasn't been all fire and brimstone.
I'm a huge fan of Klefbom's game, have gone to bat for him many times on the main board but he has had several more minor injuries over the past 2 seasons in addition to this major one, it's a concern.

Schultz is a plus for sure but RNH and Eberle scoring well in the AHL does little for me, they are doing as expected and in fact, have been fairly underwhelming if anything despite the good offensive numbers.
Also, the secondary guys aren't developing well at all, that's another concern.
Add in the whole arena debacle, the lockout nonsense and now the Klefbom injury right when his development was taking off and it has been a brutal offseason.
I guess i just feel beat up as a hockey and Oiler fan and it has brought out the "Groucho" in me.

Just think - if we had taken Ryan Murray in the draft, we could have 3 top defensive prospects suffering from major shoulder injuries during the lockout.

Sucks to hear that he'll be missing a huge chunk of development time at this age, hopefully he'll be able to get his career back on track after he recovers.

Who else is a 'top defensive' prospect that's have shoulder problems?

Martin Gernat has been suffering shoulder problems.

The way Gernat was handled and the fact the Hall was allowed to play on a wonky shoulder for so long in losing seasons doesn't give me very much faith that the Oilers are taking this seriously.
Correction shoulder problems plague every team. For e.g, Ryan Murray suffered a shoulder injury recently too.

Tell me how was Gernat handled incorrectly? Reports are that Gernat headed home for recovery in order to be closer to his family during the rehab time.

Hall was allowed to play on a wonky shoulder? He had a wonky shoulder for years - going back to his junior days. Your criticism should also extend to the team where he originally injured it.

Any news on Klefbom from our Swedish informants?
I think he was supposed to get the green light for surgery in the last day or two, is he going under the knife ?

Last thing I heard he was flying to Edmonton to talk with the GM about the surgery and make some tests.

2 wins for us lately, 4-0 and 2-3 in OT away.
Today we're celebrating 80 years as a club, raising the jersey of Mathias Johansson, 17 seasons in the club, it's sold out and we got a 80 metre cake in the lobby
The crowd will be crazy today.

Does anyone remember all of the Klefbom injuries?

I remember that he was cut on his tie by an ice skate in the preseason 2011 and then that he, first in the preseason 2011 and then again in Nov 2011, got hit and they feared concussion. But he didn't miss very many games.

I've heard people talking about Klefbom's injuries but I think it is a bit exaggerated. He's had some minor injuries last season but nothing out of the ordinary for a hockey player. This is the first time an injury of Klefbom pissed me off, not because I think he's injury prone, just because I really want the kid to be able to play as much as possible, have fun and develop.

I don't think the Klefbom injuries could have been avoided with stretching. Cut with an ice skate, infection, two hits to the head and this one was just a "silly thing", according to him, where he lost his balance just before being hit.

Thank you! It sure was a day to remember

Going from training outside in complete darkness, with a can of peas as a puck, so that they cud hear where it was on the ice, and broken sticks from other teams with tape holding them together and now 80 years later being a leading club in European hockey is quite a journey.

We won our 3rd straight game, 4-1 playing very good against Frölunda. Having 3-4 of our best players out injured im so proud to see the young guns fill the gaps with excellent performances, even tho making their first ever games for us.
Yesterday we played with 10 guys aged 22 or under. So so proud of them 17 and 18 year olds playing with no fear in such a big and memorable game like this.

Klefbom and Brodin have really shown the way.
Btw, the cake was good

Came here to post this.

Marincin could very well pass him on the depth chart.

If I remember correctly Klefbom was planning on staying overseas for one more year in the SEL then come over to play for the Oilers next season. I wonder how this will affect his decision.

Damn it to hell.

I hope he has played his last game in Sweden. Next year, it is time for him to come over to North America, even if he has to play in OKC.

I think he said he was finishing out his contract.

I think with this he is suiting up in OKC next year, fighting with Marincin as the first call up instead of being slotted into the opening night lineup.

I realize Klefbom is a lefty but he played righty when he was paired with Brodin right?

Anyone know is this was something that Klefbom had before getting hurt? Is this one of those scenarios where he was damaged and continued to play through it?

While I have nothing against players getting some experience in the AHL before making the jump to the "big leagues", in fact I'd probably prefer it especially seeing what it's doing for Schultz, I really wouldn't be surprised to see Klefbom making a case for a position with the Oilers next season. The kid is good and could help us instantly.
