Oh well it is what it is. Just funny that with no NHL season we are still getting typical Oiler injuries. Starts off as a minor injury and before you know it the season-ending surgery is booked.

Stauffer tweeted that he's in Edmonton meeting with the doctors today. Who knows if that's good or bad though...

nothing good with shoulder injuries who needs surgery, but the kid is young and surely coming back stronger in his lower body/legs.

I'm thinking the most likely scenario now is he comes over and plays for the Barons next year.

While it's unfortunate that Klefbom is done for the year, I don't think that Marincin passes him on the depth chart yet, still too many blunders from him IMO. That said Marincin IMO has gone from ? to legit NHL prospect.

Not shocking. Probably in Klefbom's best interest at this point.

Edmonton Oilers ‏@EdmontonOilers
#Oilers prospect Oscar Klefbom requires surgery on his injured left shoulder and will be sidelined indefinitely.
He fits right in with this organization.

I can't help but imagine what it would be like if we had drafted Ryan Murray as well...

Hopefully Klefbom recovers nicely and is ready for camp and the NHL next season.

Hopefully first and foremost the surgery is a success and he won't be hampered by it going forward.

It's okay guys Ryan Murray is getting surgery on his shoulder too.
If there was a season to lose Klefa this would be it, he'll be back and rehabbed just in time for training camp next fall.

silver lining ?

Nice quote from Klefbom today at his presser:

Dustin Nielson ‏@nielson1260
Klefbom says he thinks he has played his last game in Sweden and "hopes" to play with Schultz one day.

I would say that, and the fact they aren't considering "playing through it" as a silver lining as well. Get it fixed (or as fixed as possible), then rehab and get it back to mostly the way it was.

Heard him on Oilers Now.

He's gonna need to get himself a copy of Rosetta Stone. His English will come after more exposure. Paajarvi was noticeably more eloquent when he came back for his 2nd NHL season. Whatever Paajarvi did over first NHL offseason (linguistically at least. ), he should get on that.

Maybe he's just pandering, but he said he'll probably get his surgery done here (he has a choice between Edmonton or in Sweden).

Thats what I love to hear. Get all these kids playing together and they will be an amazing "team", and hopefully rid us of the vets vs kids atmosphere that has polluted our locker room for far too long.

Finally it seems as if our management has learned its lesson.

Too bad Klefa can't play atm. 3 D's injured, means we have to play with 3 kids born 93, 94 and 95.
Average age on the team atm is 22.

Klefbom had probably played around 28-30 min a game and wud have had to take more responsibility. He was about to progress real good this season, with the very good start he had too.

Let's all hope the surgery will make him a 100% healthy again.
Too bad we won't see him over here again for another 20 years, if ever.

SouthSwe,

Thank you very much for taking the time to keep us informed of Klefbom's development ( same to all of the other Swedish posters as well.) Your comments have been greatly appreciated by many here.

Hopefully, we will all get ti see a lot of great hockey from him as the years pass.

I've been a toronto fan for over 10 years but my favourite team to watch last season was the Oilers with all their young players.
Sure won't watch less Oilers games now, if it can start already...

I'll add my own thumbs up and thanks to the Swedish contributors here who've helped keep us up to date with our prospects overseas.

Much appreciated.
