Boucher 4-6 months

Quote:
Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes

President/GM Jim Rutherford said #Canes goalie Brian Boucher suffered a shoulder injury. Will be out 4-6 months.
Peters, come on down.

No seriously, is Carolina just destined to be a backup hell? Boucher's the best backup we've had (on paper), and he misses most of his contract here.

Said in the other thread, if Peters has a nice season he could be a decent trading chip at the deadline.

He should retire. He's not going to have a job when he comes back since the Canes are going to have to sign someone. Peters sure has JR by the short hairs now, unless he plans on overpaying Chris Mason.

Actually he shouldn't retire, because he wouldn't get paid. He shouldn't go nuts trying to come back is more accurate.

Can Murphy bail on the KHL? or is he locked in to playing for the year?

Andersen's position was nonsense in June and he just looks foolish now.

Murphy is a flipping idiot... He just gave up 1 spot from starting in the NHL, to death gripping arm rests in Russian airspace.

They said they're deciding what to do with Peters after July 1.

John Muse becomes the biggest winner this offseason, so far. Sucks to be Andersen/Murphy.

I'd love to see Rutherford grab Biron in free agency.

Look on the bright side: if this injury is going to happen, this is about the best time for it to happen.

If they're rueing their decisions, my guess is that they will find someone else to blame...like a guy who carries a briefcase to work.

Will be curious to see if Murphy can get out of his KHL contract (a lot of them do have NHL release clauses) so he might not miss out much. But Peters is looking more and more likely to re-sign I'd say, and I wouldn't mind going after Biron this offseason as one poster said.

And dead on, and likely accurate. The agents for those two DO deserve most of the blame (especially Andersen), but not all of it. They can always just tell their agents "get what you can, but get me signed with them" which clearly didn't happen.

How exactly can we do that? It's not Rutherford's fault that he has had injuries. We can call it an unlucky or unfortunate one but not a terrible one

If they can look at it in a mature manner, maybe...but even that would be expecting a lot of a 25 year old. I think agents have a crap-ton of influence on these kids.

They have to sign another goalie now, right? Hopefully the plan isn't to role with Peters again as backup.

While it is true that Andersen now could've had the chance to prove himself as NHL worthy this year, this still goes against the general consensus that his agent wanted him to be a starter. Barring Boucher's injury, being in Anaheim warrants his (agent's) long-term goal as an NHLer by only having to beat out Hiller. This is not a knock on Hiller, but Ward is regarded more of as a franchise goalie.

Murphy screwed up his chances of playing NHL minutes this year, but I feel like Andersen will only lightly regret this situation because he could've had the chance to outplay Ward... which was probably not likely. In the end, it's a matter of either beating out Ward or whoever else's team's starting goalie.

.
Hiller has a better save percentage, goals against average 2 out of the last 3 years, led the league in starts and minutes played.... and has two more years at 4.5 million. I'm not saying i dont prefer Ward but to infer that Hiller isnt a franchise goalie seems a little disingenous.

Sure, every agent wants this, but to expect it is another matter. Is there any indication out on the interwebs that his agent expected that he could achieve this for Andersen? Because if that's the case, that dude is nuts, and for Andersen to believe as much goes well beyond a matter of simple maturity.
