So we haven't actually made an offer to Suter. I have heard a lot of scuttle that he's going to take his time, so maybe that's not such a bad sign. But it doesn't sound like we're in on him very intensely.

Yeah, I think right now we're all Parise and when that fails, we'll be all Nash, and when that fails.......

Parise was our target. Don't think we could go after both hard, because I don't think PK would be happy if we ended up winning both, since that would prob. place us right at the cap.

Given our depth at D and our relative weakness at forward, I think he's on our "would be nice" list, but JR clearly wants Parise a lot more.

doesnt sound like we are still in on Parise. so no Parise, most likely no Suter. No Penner. No Parenteau. Semin and Ryan only top options now?

I guess 10-year contracts don't carry the clout they used to.

Now that we're out of the Parise race I would expect that we'd go heavily for Suter, EXCEPT the main reason Parise turned us down was a lack of up-front signing bonus dollars. Suter will most likely turn us down for the same reason.

If Semin weren't such a pariah, I'd say we should go hard after him now. JR could certainly fulfill the "winger for Eric" problem that way. But it sounds like he's already packed up his tent and wants to do this on the trade market instead.

I wish Parise would have at least given us a chance to make a presentation before eliminating us.

The push for signing bonus money is all agent driven and disgusting

If you get your money now, you can invest it. 24 million making a couple % interest a year is a lot more than 24 million spread out over 10 years.

If you're not trying to get the money up front, you're failing your client.

I get it's a bummer for us, but it is what it is.

I get why the money up front is attractive but you are asking teams to pay you a big chunk without ever playing minute. The concept of signing bonus money in a sport with guaranteed contracts is generally bothersome to me
