Now, for all those people who thought I was making this news up 3 weeks ago when I said Jokinen was not going to be signed and become a free agent, as well as the Flames being active in the trade front. Look what's happened. Haters gonna hate.
Why does everyone want him out? He was one of our best scorers this season, everyone on the team had cold streaks too. Olli and Glenx had great chemistry. Id rather have Olli than Cervenka, Cammy (at center), Backlund and Stajan. Why dont we move Cammy to the wing again and try something like this?
Backlund and/or Bartschi can fill in top 6 if there are injuries or poor playing. That way we dont have to bring in a UFA to fill in the top 6 by keeping Jokinen at a discount. Am I missing something?

A 33 year old Olli Jokinen wants a long term deal, possibly four or more years (with the standard NMC) and doesn't seem to be willing to budge. But don't worry, a lot of people seem to be missing this.
Also, the definition of a discount varies. $4.5M per season, even on a long term deal, could be considered discount by Jokinen and his agent.
Our dire center situation just got a lot worse. Possibly the worst C lineup in the league. Mgmt is kidding themselves if they think we have a shot at the playoffs.
Would you guys bet money on over or under 40% FOs this year?

Very fair, that was what I was assuming. But Cervenka hasnt even played one game in the NHL, what happens when Cervenka runs back to the KHL and Backlund has another bad year? Jokinen is the only top 6 center I trust on this team. But if he wants more than 3 years it would be in our best interest to let him go. Oh well, he will be missed.

I'll believe it when someone who is NOT Eric Francis or Ecklund reports it. I'm not saying I think Jokinen will be back cause I'm sure he won't be, I'm just saying I'd like to hear it from a credible source.
You people drive me nuts Cervenka has not played on NHL size rinks and we do not how well he can handle the North American style of hockey and you are already saying he is a legitimate first liner. Wait until he plays some games in the NHL before we decide if he should be a first liner.

Uhh, Eric Francis is a credible source, eklund on the other hand, is an entire joke!
