We'll be thrilled about the years when we spend the last two of them remembering how terrible our goaltending was before this guy and after that, how much we will beg him season after season not to retire.

10 years wow.. thats a double edged sword. Especially for a goalie. A goalie is likely to burn out faster than any other skater. this contract can bite us in the ass later.

Bernier is better.

My guess is $58 million for 10 years, $5.8 AAV.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

I see where others are reporting $58M as total value of Quick deal and that appears to be correct. Next on the tee: Carey Price.

McKenzie says cap hit will be 5.5-5.9, which would be the bargain of a lifetime if that's what it winds up being.

Hometown discount indeed.

If it's any number starting with 5, that is a steal.

DL = boss.

Total win.

If he signs Parise, he may as well just take the year off and he'd still deserve GM of the year.

Dude's been a friggin' mindreader the last five months. Who goes from near firing squad to cult hero in a fanbase in five months as a GM?

Brodeur, Roy, Hasek, Belfour all peaked out in their mid 30's, it's a pretty safe bet imo. Granted, some of them peaked for 10 years lol.

If this is for real, this kind of hometown discount, I'm gonna start crying again.

At this time I'd like to remind everyone that Dustin Brown did it first. Leadership by example.

Hopefully he does it again when his contract is up. I think he's the next major piece to be renewed (in two years I think).

Bernier deserves the chance to start so it's safe to say that he should be traded now. I'm excited to have Martin Jones as the backup now.

So what?

If it translates into five Stanley Cups, are you really going to be upset if we bring up the NHL rear after that for a few years?

(It's a rhetorical question.)

I don't see how anyone can't be happy with this deal.
