GREAT NEWS. But I was hoping for less than 7 years. 10 is just too much. That's the only thing that is bothering me...

Kings twitter: "To clarify, that's 10 years after next year -- so 11 years in total of our goaltender being better than yours."

Definitely called 58 million once I heard 10. If he can keep his game up for the entire contract the Kings got a heck of a steal. Love to see he's here for the long haul after being the guy who carried everyone to the playoffs. Man does less than six million per year sound good.

Now for Penner or a top free agent.

Quick will be 6 years younger than Luongo when his deal ends, 43 and 37.

I like quick.. Glad about this deal. Bummed about Bernier. Always thought he was a touch better than Quick. Oh well.. Quick is still an amazing goalie to have for the next 11 years.

Like others, not huge on the length (ending at 38 hopefully shouldn't be terrible), but $7 x first 7 years is probably fair for him. I'd be willing to bet someone would pay more. To be fair, we're paying for some RFA years, so he "should be" a bit cheaper. So technically, he's being paid a lot more than Bryz and Luongo.

you see doughty, this is how you're supposed to do it. i hope you realize how stupid you looked

I originally wanted a 5 year deal for him, but really, he's going to be our Brodeur. 10 yrs at 5.8 per cap hit is awesome. Very happy.

Hope no future Kings player wants to wear 32, cause' that **** isn't going to be available again - ever.

Anyway you look at it, that's a GREAT cap hit.

The length of the deal makes me nervous...but I have faith in JQ.

Well, this is HFB afterall.

I agree with what someone else said. Thinking of all the years of crappy and shakey goaltending. I love this deal.

he's getting paid more than brodeur, better be that good. And do you mean they're going to retire Hrudey's number

wow people complaining about 10 years, I'll be very happy to be alive and kicking in 10 years much less worried about Quick being 38 at that time, sheesh enjoy the Cup and the next 5 years of Quicks prime, they rest will work itself out.

on the Bernier side of things, I also think he had a lot more potential than Quick but he could never out play him. I'll be sad to see him go but he could bring in some good hockey chips, that could help this team in the future instead of grabbing the flavor of the month high priced FA's

Great deal. I was just hoping that the cap hit per year would be less than seven so this is gravy.

As long as we get another few cups out of this deal I don't care what happens once he hits his upper thirties.

If it is 7 years for $7 million each ($49 million) then $4-3-2 million for last three, that's awesome. The Kings will be paying Quick well during his prime. With his athleticism, Quick should be good for at least 5-8 more years. Maybe more. If his play drops off in 2020, oh well. We'll have three Stanley Cups by then.

Well done by Quick and by Lombardi. Good cap number and the MAN gets paid.

i'm referring more to the hold out and having to push and pull to be the #1 paid guy. Quick has been the best player on the team for quite a while, he could have pulled the same routine with far more reason.

plus, drew has more RFA years, so again, it's a bit different.

Dude five lol we won one and now I can die a happy guy, we will contend now for years with just the guys we have signed not counting the kids coming and any cups we win will be gravy, after my personal 38 year wait for them to do it I literally can't concieve of 5 ......is this ****ing great or what

Wait until the cap hit is rolled back even further with the new CBA.

I called the $5.8 million AAV too.

That is really what was signed a 7 year deal with 3 to lower the cap. And if for some strange reason he is still not playing amazing at the end of the 7 there will be teams wanting to take on the reduced payroll but higher cap hit. I will take 10@5.8 vs 7@7 any day.

Always thought Bernier was a touch better....?

I'm sorry but when was the last time that Bernier won a Conn Smythe? How does someone even say this with a straight face?

This deal is basically JQ saying "let me be a King for the rest of my career." For a young man who has only played a few years in the NHL, that's a big statement.
