When all is said and done, expect Ryan Suter to get a 10 year-plus deal with an AAV of $7M-plus that will include $28M in the first 2 years.

Pretty much as expected, if he's right.

I'm thinking Minnesota gets Suter.

He's a UFA, not an RFA.

Spoiled from all the success, yes...

A little non-sequitur, but my argument is that Boston fans are more spoiled, because all their teams win in every sport.

Seriously it's not fair.

Championships
2011 Patriots (Conference)
2011 Bruins
2010 Celtics (Conference)
2008 Celtics
2007 Patriots (Conference)
2007 Red Sox
2004 Red Sox
2004 Patriots
2003 Patriots
2001 Patriots

Talk about a spoiled sports city.

I see where you're coming from but I consider myself - as well as a lot of other Wings fans I know - to be grateful for what we have witnessed over the past two decades.

I'm not trying to imply ungrateful or any other bad connotations by saying spoiled. I'm just saying Red Wings fans have been spoiled with all the success and it's likely that most of them would be floored by a couple awful years.

I highly doubt he wants to split ice-time with Keith and Seabs, but we shall see.

I doubt he'd want to go from top 2 to top 3. He wants to play, and win.

Hawks would have to trade.

He wouldn't be the #3 dman. Seabrook would get bumped down if it was an issue at all.

Seabrook is an RD, no? And Chicago wouldn't bump Keith's ice-time for Suter.

If Suter gets 28M in bonuses the league has to look to stop that

There is 60 mins of ice time, Suter would get his 25 mins a night as would Keith its the third pairing guys that would lose ice time. The main thing would be PP time and Suter would get tons with the Hawks as both Keith/Seabs were not on the top unit a lot last season.

IMO bigest factor for Suter will be staying close to his farm. Hence I still say he ends up with Det, Minny or Chi. He does not even want to leave his farm to talk to team as he will just talk over the phone.

Its not 28 in bonuses its 28 mil total in the first two year, so the first two years of pay which would be front loaded plus his bonuses.

think Richards got 24 mil in bonuses (first two years, max at moment). And I agree that this will be addressed at next CBA to some extent.

No surprise but the Red Wings have made offers to both Ryan Suter and Zach Parise

Worst kept secret in the NHL (with regards to Suter), but thought I might as well post it.

If he wants to give up Schenn or Giroux in two years, sure.

Nope, we have plenty of money coming off the books by then to go with an increasing salary cap
