Thought I would joke with him a bit.

Hell yeah.

He was such a nice guy to meet earlier this week. He was just awesome, especially when my little sister wanted to get a picture with him. Just a great guy and I can't be happier for him.

And he was also the first Wild player to ever sign a jersey for me. I'll have a soft spot for him for a while

I just love it that on the ice, he's out there to fight and protect players. But off ice, he's really well spoken and intelligent.

Meanwhile, most hockey players just sound like complete retards in interviews and such

Wait, are you really arguing for 1 year?

Glad to see him back. It was obvious watching Becoming Wild last summer that his teammates love him. #fiveslist

While he hasn't signed yet, Kassian has agreed to terms on the first one-way contract of his career. It's a two-year pact worth $550,000 the first year, $600,000 the second year.
Matt Kassian agrees to terms

2-year, $1.15 million

Before anyone misunderstands, that's just $100k over league minimum, not $1.15MM per year.

Actually, I hope that he is enough of a deterrent that nobody takes liberties with the skilled players, and he doesn't even have to drop the gloves.

First of all Kassian is very well read, and a bright young man. Don't let his title of "enforcer" let you think he is dumb.

Second, the vast majority of hockey players are quite well spoken. But either, they speak English as a second or third language, or when they are interviewed, it is right as they come off the ice out of breath.

I realize Kassian is very intelligent, that's why I made the comment. And, most hockey player interviews are completely trash.

Well ya know uh, we uh, played uh, pretty good there, uh, ya know, quality players and uh, ya know, did our uh, best to, ya know, go for the win there ya know.

Well, what else is there to argue about if you decide not to be a bobble head?

It's not my money, so I won't lose sleep over it. Just surprised that giving him that money, which may be made in the AHL, is okay, but paying Latendresse wasn't.

It is called trying to be HUMBLE, a word that 99% of the players in the NBA & NFL haven't even heard of.

and put it this way .... if Swedish, Finnish, Russian or French was your first language, just how eloquent do you think you could be in English?

Kassian's a first-line Twitter star. That has to count to something.

It doesn't?

GMCF would have humped a dog to get Lats for league min. Lats will sign with pit

Anybody would have done that.

But the holdup with Latendresse was obviously in the range of 1.5 million. The team was going to give him at least 1m, but not 2.5m. So not a huge difference, maybe as little as Kassian's 600K.

Believe me, I'm not a fan of NFL / NBA interviews, most are terrible, but lets not pretend NHL players give great interviews. Might just be sports in general.

And, most of the time, I don't think it's being humble, it's just not being experienced with the media... and since in the NHL, it's understandable.

They need to train this guy to kill penalties - no doubt he is a better player than Boogie,
