As a joke we should compare the 2 teams they've played for in the last few years.

See if maybe one of them stacks up a lot better than the other.

Price is certainly better than Rask. Boston is certainly better than Montreal.

I haven't been impressed with Price. Price=Rask in value imo. Rask for the future.

These are my 2 most hated teams but really? Rask has never been a starter for a full season yet.

But 6.5 seems like overpayment for any goalie. But if that's what it takes to lock him up, better than letting him walk I suppose.

Really? Price is leagues above rask right now and has carried his team to the playoffs starting ~70 games...its crazy how underrated he seems to be on hfb. Most of my family are habs fans so I see alot of him.

only reason he gets underrated is cause ppl think habs fans over rate him.
ppl seem to forget alot of things like how he was thrusted to a starting position at a young age. At the same age that other goalies are maturing away from any media let alone montreals media in the ahl or as a backup, Price had to mature and make the mistakes that come with it infront of the most relentless media in hockey.

Add to that that he's been playing in front of pretty bad teams and kept his numbers up.

and about the reported salary
He's certainly a top 10 goalie in the league and montreals best player and their only (so far) franchise player. You should always give your best player the biggest money.

Say he gets a 6.5 cap hit contract, considering a) overpayment for extra taxes in quebec, b) overpayment for putting up with montreal media, c) a little bit of extra cause he's the franchise player and d) abit of overpayment for giving up some of his ufa years, is a 6.5 cap hit really that bad?

I suppose this is an invitation to compare Price to Rask, and to take this thread off topic,

Tuomaz trolling in a Price thread once again. Nothing new, his love for Rask is annoying. He is a 25 years old backup. Comparing men and boys... Please stay out of my threads, you always bring negativity and hatred toward my favorite team, it's getting old. Grow up, act like an adult.

Wait, what? Coming from a Leafs fan who haven't seen what an elite goalie is in years, I would have guessed you knew the importance, and the rarity, of having a goalie part of the elite on your team. Moreover, Price is still young.

People need to realize the cap ain't 45M anymore. It's 70M! I'm more than willing to give 6,5M a year if it means we can keep Price for the next decade.

EDIT: Totally misread the bolded part Accept my apologies

Price deserves it. I would rather have him than one of Schneider or Rask. He's arguably top 5 and he's still ONLY 24.

Ah Leave him alone. He's just jealous. He's probably wondering how we can get Price sign long term for the same price they gave Backstrom for only 4 yrs.
Hmmmm Price for 7 yrs for 6 mil or Backstrom for 4 yrs at 6 .Haha you lose.

Have you lived outside of Montreal?

Don't go talking about things you wouldn't know.

Taxes are on the high side, but the cost of living is one of the best.

You have to factor in everything.
