Schwartz was only off momentarily. He's seen regular shifts since.

Jake Allen with 6 goals allowed on 22 shots, although the defense is doing him no favors. Still, it's a good thing we don't need to rely on having good goaltending prospects for a while.

Good to hear that Rattie is back to form.

Not that it means much in a 2-6 game, but Ponich and Schwartz are looking pretty solid.

How? He only scores because he has Bartschi spoon-feeding him tap ins all the time.

EDIT: Put the sarcasm face for good measure lol.

So, Rattie now has 5 goals and how many assists in how many total games?

Robb_K,

Rattie has 7 goals and 5 assists in 10 games.

Tesink has 4 goals and 7 assists after 10 games.

Mackenzie MacEachern is off to a great start 6 games 3 goals and 7 assists. I think we may have something here...

It seems that Rattie should score decently without Baertschi, eh?

Many (if not most) of The Blues' forward prospects have started off reasonably well.

The funny part is Rattie actually had a higher point average last season when Baertschi wasn't playing. Btw Jaskin scored two goals in today's game. One of which Veillux assisted on. The only other junior game scheduled for today is moosejaw at 8pm.

Jaskin… is the complete package. He can skate, hit, puck handle, get in excellent position and has a bullet of a shot from the point. After one regular season home game, my pick for team MVP this season, and a good candidate for 50 goals.

saw this on a blog for Moncton..... They like him too.

Our prospects are on fire. We could continue to have some scary depth in the future.

That's good to hear. Last year had me a little worried that we missed with that second rounder. Glad he's able to play with and against players of similar skill level.

We never had a chance to assess him last season, as he was playing mainly only very short 4th Line minutes against mature, developed players. During his short time in Juniors last season, he scored at reasonable levels. He's still way too young to determine that he's a bust.

He's doing what we expect. It's Tarasenko who was amazing, doing so well against players much older and more developed than he was 3 and 3 years ago, as a teenager.

Jaskin should have a great season in The Q this year, and be a reasonably highly-rated forward prospect. I'm not worried about him being a bust. I think he's got the tools to be an NHL forward. It just depends upon how much he wants it, as to how hard he works for it.

The biggest issue with Jaškin was his attitude back home. Glad to see that he has had a good start, hopefully there were other issues last season and that won't be a problem again.

that's encouraging, considering last season his subpar skating didn't seem improved at all; the couple of times i catched him it looked like the same skating from his draft year after his knee knjury.

that's interesting, i thought the biggest issues were skating and his knee maybe, seemed to remember his attitude was reported as a strength of his.. so, may you expand on this please?

I also would like to hear some clarification/expansion on this as I never heard of any attitude problems regarding Jaskin before.

Maybe he just wasn't happy about the playing time and opportunities he was getting and how that potentially impacted his development?

I can see that he has a bit of an attitude just from his first little fight he got into. He fared pretty well, but had no regard for his team getting rid of his helmet and gear. That is an extra minor. Worth watching....

I watched that fight on YT also...I'm pretty sure he just didn't know any better. Probably not a penalty in Czech and Russian leagues. Decent fight though and he came back the next game with 2 goals and no penalties. There's also a video of a Jaskin penalty shot goal on YT for anyone who is interested.

On-ice attitude, rather than off-ice. Being a young guy on a bad team isn't the easiest thing, but he really let his head drop in more than a couple of games and looked completely lost. As someone like Hertl on the same team was really pushing, Dmitrij seemed one step behind in his head.

Jaskin with 2 more goals in a 4-3 OT win. 10 goals in 11 games. Definitely a huge surprise so far. Villieux with a goal as well.

I'll admit that I was frustrated with his stats last year, but I'm really happy with how he is doing now.
