How do stats and draft number not matter? You're basically saying that a player that scores 0 times in the CHL and is taken in the 7th round has an equal chance of succeeding as a 1st round pick that scores 50 goals.

Kamloops beat Portland 5.1. Rattie and Edmundson both with a goal.

If my memory serves correctly, with the goals Rattie has in this years playoffs, he is now the sole leader in playoff goals in WHL history.

Anti-Semite Mark Pederson holds the all-time WHL record with 47 in 71 games. Rattie has 44 in 68 games.

Thanks P9's. I knew he was close. Three more to tie, four to take over. I think he's gonna hit it.

According to the WHL site he is 3 short of tying the record. I figure whl.ca is most likely site to have up to date totals.

Quote:
MOST GOALS IN A CAREER:

47 - Mark Pederson, Medicine Hat Tigers, 1983-88 (71 games).
41 - Reg Leach, Flin Flon Bombers, 1967-70 (50 games).
36 - Brian Propp, Brandon Wheat Kings, 1977-79 (46 games).
- Ray Allison, Brandon Wheat Kings, 1975-79 (49 games).
Some other guys have a higher GPG, but its worth noting that they played in the 70s and 80s when the league was a much, much higher scoring league.

Is it bad that I have never heard of any of those players? Hopefully Rattie isn't like them..

Also of note

That was a big thing fror me, and so was my weight. I’ve put on about 4-5 pounds since the beginning of the season. Just weighed in at 177. Last year by the end of the playoffs I was like 168, 169, I was a stick. If I keep the weight on and work hard this summer, I think I’m going to like where I am.’
Good to have recent numbers on weight. Hopefully he can get up to 185-190 in the offseason.

Propp and Leach had long NHL careers, and Propp scored 1000 points.

I've been watching all the highlights from Rattie's games, seems like hes on the ice for every goal. Also, the Kamloops Blazers have a goalie named Cole Cheveldae and he looks really good. Has anyone else noticed him, or have any more info on him?

I understand he projects to be a decent enough goaltender, however Taylor Joseph scares the bejebus out of him.

Curtis Joseph's son.

This is an allusion to the infamous Cheveldae-Joseph fight.

Equal chance? No. Possible? Sure. Guys develop at different rates, leagues are different, etc. The draft goes on when these guys are very young, and while the scouting has gotten much better recently, it's never a sure thing. The draft is the clubs saying "I think this guy is going to develop into a better player than the guys behind him." After that point, where they went has no bearing on how they develop in the future.

Remember how Brett Sonne was WHL player of the year a few years ago and scored over 100 points? He never got it together in the AHL. TJ Hensick was another guy with an amazing Junior career, he even is great in the AHL, but every time he's been given a shot at the NHL he just can't handle it. On the other hand, there are guys like Patrick Hornquist who went last in his draft and went on to have a 30 goal season. The way scouting and draft has improved, it's certainly more likely that guys drafted earlier make the NHL, but it's never a sure thing until it happens.

Another promising Blues prospect. If they could just come up with a center. I wonder if we will see some Blues trades during the draft?

McRae had good but not great production in juniors. He has battled back problems this season and possibly before this season that has really hampered his career.

For the last freaking time Sonne was not an over age player in the WHL. Sonne was born in May 1989. His last junior season was 2008-2009 making him 19 years old when the regular season ended.
