Matt Carle

I don't know if you guys feel he deserves his own thread... But Mueller's got one.. If he doesn't feel free to move this to the free agency thread

How would everyone feel if we only managed to sang him ? Say 5yr @5M ? I think he would be a fit here, and that would sooth a small portion of the dissapointment of not landing Suter. He might be good for say 35 points here, might be the puck mover were missing, and would ease the load off of the rest of our D to produce...

Yea. The idea is pretty awesome if you can actually get dedicated people that know what they are doing, but they aren't. The Washington guy overspent by like 15M.

This has been talked about many times in the Free Agency thread. Hes our plan B if Suter doesn't sign.

Wild aren't interested in Semin... rumor has it they would look at the trade market... possibly Bobby Ryan etc.

I think Carle will be this years Wizniewski. A decent enough player but it wont take long before the team that signs him will regret it.

Since when?

Carle will likely end up back in Philly, and I want no part of any of the "second tier" defensemen in free agency this year. If we don't get Suter, I would hope we go for a true second pairing defenseman, because we don't want anything to do with the contracts that are going to be handed out to the Carles of the world this offseason.

I'll easily take Garrison at around $4.5 million than Falk at whatever the hell he's gonna get, probably just under a million. Garrison would fit right into our top 4, maybe even top pairing since our defense is pretty bad. Of course I'd still take Carle over Garrison, but I'll take Garrison over what we have now, even if we have to overpay to get him.

I love Bobby Ryan, but the price is too steep, we're too fragile right now, we don't know how our 2011 and 2012 picks will come along.

JVR woulda had to be the guy.

To the OP: Wiz is just a PP guy, Carle has had top 4 minutes for awhile.

Garrison looks to be the next Wiz if anything.

I'm sure a lot of teams would take Garrison at $4.5MM but he's going to get offers for $6MM.

Probably. He's gonna be seen as Plan B for a lot of teams. Detroit and Canucks fans were all over him if they missed out on Schultz and Suter. Perhaps the Preds may go after him to make up for the loss of Suter too. Money will be flying.

I think most of us agree the price for Ryan would be too steep... at this point it's just a rumor that they'd enter the trade market. The Bobby Ryan thing specifically isn't confirmed, just the type of player they'd look to target.

No way in hell does he get $6 million. I can maybe see 5, but not 6.

This is the worst time to start selling our prospects. We just got the cabinet somewhat stocked, and a trade of that caliber would do serious damage.

Maybe that's what you think he's worth, but he will get an offer for $6MM from some team. He might not sign it (Vancouver and Florida are rumored to be his preferred landing spots, and he could sign in either for less than market value) but there will be a team willing to give him that money.

Well than that team is even dumber than Calgary.

*Watches Wild give him $6 million a year*

Garrison is like Wideman, except 2 years younger and capable of playing defense. (With lesser career offensive stats, but his most recent year, which was only his 2nd NHL season , had much better goal scoring)

He gone git paid

The Financial Post ran a quick infographic about how taxes affect salaries for hockey players. Let's see who can spot the (at least two) problems with it.
