Yes, he has a right to do so. He found the loophole in the CBA. It doesn't look good though.
He should have just chosen a team early on and told his his agents and be done with it.

Lol I was merely joking about how wishy washy his tweet sounded. The way it sounded to me was, well, clueless. Hahahahaha

A stunt like what, exactly? He decided to become a FA and now has the choice to choose any team he likes. He picked his desired teams and is now mulling over his decision. More power to him. The FANS are making far more out of this than he is. This sorta thing happens every summer. Why all the hoopla over this kid is beyond me. But there is no stunt here.

So either he knows we got Schultz, he knows we got Nash, or got Schultz and flipped him for Nash.

The real problem is how Schultz let his agent handle this. It's one thing when it's a vet UFA like Richards, it's another when it's a guy who hasn't played in the NHL yet.

But this is his agents doing, this is the first time Schultz has ever had to deal with contract stuff or anything. I'm not saying he's shown good judgement here but in the end he's following what his agent told him to do, and his agent likes putting on these shows apparently

I know your being sarcastic, but that would NEVER happen. Can you imagine how bad that looks as a organization? Technically, he couldn't even do it until tomorrow.

Sources tell me it’s down to three teams with the Ottawa Senators and the Edmonton Oilers being two of them. Sources close to the player tell me a third team is also receiving very strong consideration. Who that team is remains a little foggy but the New York rangers have been aggressive in recruiting the player. For now his agents are standing by the phone waiting for a decision

Buccigross knows those players. They all follow him on twitter.

Ryan Getzlaf: "I've never seen him play or anything but I hear he's pretty good. He better be really good because a lot of players, not just on this team, don't like the way he's handling this situation. We want guys who want to be here and be a part of our team. No one wants to deal with that sh... uh stuff in the locker room." He corrected himself as my 6 year old son approached. Good dad! He also said he's more disappointed that the organization lost a draft pick rather than losing Schultz."

I love this stuff.

BTW, if we got Schultz, it would be pretty funny if we traded for Bobby Ryan...

You know this is probably the tender loving curmudgeon coming out in me, but I'm picking up on a sense of entitlement here.

Not good.

If there are people out there who think this guy won't be targeted, your really fooling yourselves.

There are guys who play in the league at this moment who are already lining this guy up in their minds eye. I mean people are people at the end of all the nonsense.

I will say that if the kid doesn't perform, the media(especially canadian media)will be MERCILESS with him.

He needs at least a 25-30 pt showing if he cracks an NHL lineup in his first season.

I'm sure there will be a number of players who can't wait to give a "welcome to the NHL" moment.

Yes, ESPN Sportscenter anchor and writer for ESPN.com on the NHL. Usually pretty good articles. Sometimes I get the feeling that he loves college hockey more than NHL hockey, he was a big part of the Frozen Four ESPN coverage and through the offseason he's been tweeting USA Hockey & college hockey news in with his morning sports news tweets. Schultz being a college hockey guy, Bucci could have a good source.

I think the entitlement stuff is a bit overblown. There are a million factors at work here.

So he'll be just like every rookie in every sport ever?

Erixon got booed in Calgary, didn't bother him or how he played. Don't remember anyone taking a run at him.
