Schultz compares to less skilled Erik Karlsson? Fair?
Nope, Karlsson is a far better skater. Schultz has a different game all together.
Karlsson is pretty much the only Dman in the league, right now, who draws comparisons to Leetch. Even with that said, Karlsson still hasn't shown as much creativity or vision, yet, for it to be an apt comparison. But he has the skating ability.
I still say Van is the favorite, they can give him everything we can and more minutes really. Their D is easier to crack. Plus its home. They make the most sense. We will be A- OK. Staal girardi mcdonagh del zotto, erixon will get a shot. Maybe sauer. Stralman's agent said he wants to stay in nhl if possible so we are ok either way. Also, I doubt we trade MDZ for scoring either way..
i disagree. he has an even shot of breaking both lineups-- and if he breaks into our 2nd pairing (which is likely being the only rd expected to be ready--only having to compete with stralman and sauer(unlikely)) he will get more minutes to match his partner-- mcdonagh/staal's.

Leetch was in a class of his own with Orr and Coffey when it comes to great pure offensive defenseman. Guys who can just go up and lead a rush and make things happen on their own. The best I've ever seen in his prime at going end to end and scoring for a defenseman.
No defenseman in recent years, not even Drew Doughty has that kind of skill or potential.
If Doughty doesn't warrant the comparison, why should Schultz?

LOL, read the thread. That is why he is face palming.

The constant comparisons?
I think they're all ridiculous, and the comparisons between Karlsson and Zubov are ridiculous too. Let's see if Karlsson can have a few more seasons like this and actually learn how to play defense. Then we'll start calling him the Swedish Zubov.

First off guy, no one is above comparisons. Doesn't mean that the persons compared are as good as one another.
Karlsson's game is very similar to Brian Leetch. Is he as good as Leetch? No.
But Karlsson's skating is the MAJOR driving force to his game, same as Leetch.
He controls the transitional game, same as Leetch.
Those are fair comparisons. Who the hell is comparing Karlsson to Zubov?!
The hype for this kid is badly overblown. I think perspective has been completely lost with all the parties involved. I just want it to be over, I can care less where he goes.

Not enough respect for Karlsson. He had a dominant season points wise compared to the rest of his defenseman peers. His season was worthy of Norris and possibly Hart nomination.
