I'm hoping we move an extra forward plus for Streit. If not, I like your idea.

I was almost wondering, if Klefbom-Schultz could be the Oilers equivalent of Alzner-Carlson.

So aside from Parise and Suter, Shane Doan has to be the next collective UFA dream acquisition, right?

- PP
- PK
- Top 25 in hits in the NHL (209 hits)
- 6'1 RW that can play LW
- Veteran leadership
- Alberta boy

Gee that'd be ridiculous tomorrow eh?

If we get Doan, get Penner too please.

Hall - RNH - Ebs
Doan - Gagner - Yakupov
Penner - Horcoff - Hemsky

Wooo!

It'll be interesting to see how active he is for the whole free agency thing, as I don't think he'll have enough time to really sit through the summer to wait and see what happens with Phoenix ownership.

Having said that, he'll go to a contender if he does leave. Whitney as well.

How about Hemsky for Bernier?

What would be fair? Do they need to add or do we?

Sign Penner and Tootoo tomorrow and I think we have had the best off-season possible.

That's awful, Bernier's less proven then Dubnyk

Wishlist for tomorrow, in this order:
1. Ryan Suter-Very unlikely, but might as well hope
2. Matt Carle-More likely, but also unlikely. (we don't land Suter)
3. Shane Doan-Very unlikely but might as well hope
4. Ryan Smyth-Not the worst thing to do by re-signing him (we don't land Doan)
5. Dustin Penner-Would love it if he came back. (we don't land Doan or Smyth)

Everyone else is either "meh" or traded for.

we need to sign a couple bottom 6 guys to 1 or 2 year deals just to light a fire under the ass of every other player

no more allstar antics for ben eager--hit people and hurt people or get out

or lazy offensive efforts by belanger--win faceoffs AND score some goals or get out

I expect now that we have Schultz, Klefbom will return to SEL...Hopefully Whitney's back to form..As well, Potter has a one-way deal so will be on the team..That would leave:

Smid-Petry
Whitney-N Schultz
Sutton-J Schultz
Potter

Adding Carle would be a realistic option.

Yuck at the thought of Sutton AND Potter having a regular shift, We still need 1 more defenseman. I really hope we can sign 1 of these guys tomorrow.

Kuba
Allen
Rozsival
Carle (Unlikely)
Garrison (Unlikely)

If the price is right for trades then

Hjalmarsson
Methot

Would be decent pickups. Would love to get 1 of these forwards also for some toughness.

Prust
Tootoo

Should be looking at guys like Winnik or Gaustad for cheap.

I do like the idea of Winnik and Konponka too, even if we have centers, more players who can take faceoffs aren't a bad thing

Was going to add one more name to my wishlist (Suter, Carle, Doan, Smyth, Penner) from above, Brandon Prust, but the Gaustad deal may make Prust 3M tomorrow. Not doing that.

So... I think we sign a surprise top 6 ish forward. A solid 4th liner and trade a younger forward and a spare defenceman for an upgrade.

Ryan Suter

For me the draft and Justin Schultz weren't the really big deals of the summer. They're great for the future but just a consolation prize for next season compared to signing Ryan Suter.

If the Oilers sign Suter I'll be crowing like a Leafs fan after a pre-season win.

If we get Suter, my faith in Tambellini will be restored.

Bahaha, I don't think we have a chance in hell at Suter but the bolded made me laugh. Well done!
