I've been listening to the fan 960 today. Pretty quiet on all fronts. Sounds like they are really optimistic about Jagr though.

last season I saw a few AHL games on line and the Plante-Teubert combo reminded me of the Twin towers of Beukeboom and Smith from the 80's--if those two can make the jump together and play as well as they did on the farm--the oilers have eiother their 5-6 or 3-4 pairing for years to come

Im ok with Carle at 5 per but we need to move bodies out and need some truculence.

If we get Carle:
Smid carle
Schultz schultz
Whitney petry

Only smid is a stay at homer in that scenario.

Don't worry, we will have a chance to land Parise next year when Holmgren decides to trade his 10 year $100M dollar deal.

I hope that New Jersey re-signs him. I know that the Devils' situation is iffy right now but I hate seeing players abandon the team that drafted them.

Iginla and Jagr on the RW. Wow. They'll have an All-Star Team.

Don't worry. Jagr is going to Montreal. No way he come out west. If he ever does, it's to play with Hemsky.

With 4 other guys fighting over the lat spot. I have love Petry since I saw him play uni, obviously new Schultz is an upgrade, Smid is Lowe 2.0--so that leaves old Schultz who is still fairly new Schultz, Whitney. Potter, Peckham, Sutton. Teubert and a few other kids running around that maybe worthy of getting a cup of coffee every now and then.

For me the top 5 are set. 7th spot is between Peckham (who could blossom into Matt Greene 2.0), Potter, and Sutton. The 6th spot could be a spot where guys like Teubet, Musil, Plante, Fedun and Marincin could be rotated up and down from the farm to get loojss at in ten game steatched(Not sure if Musil will be in the A or back in juniors next year) and then in 2013/2014 we get Klefbom into the line up--with Whitney, Smids and Sutton's contracts off the books. Sutton will be replaced ( he will find an assistant coaching job somewhere). So before we start handing out 3 year deal to guys on the blue line--we need to look at what kind of shape the line looks like over the next few years.

oilers D in 2014/2015--COULD LOOK LIKE

Justin Schultx
Klefbom
Smid (resigned)
Teubert
Petry
Plante, Marcinin, Musil or Fedun

The biggest hole the oilers had was the blue chipper on the D and that was filled yesterday, I have seen Klefbom play and think he could be one hell of an NHL d-man if he can play on the smaller ice surface. And we have all these young D-men running around that will be banging at the doors shortly. Next year the discussion will be do we resign Whitney? Whitny right now is out number 1 d-man and in a years time could be number 3--he could be the prefect transition player for the d-line we talk about
No.

And he was our #1 Dman for 40-50 games two years ago.

NS also a stay at home guy. Keep in mind that whitney would be gone next year (basically we'd be replacing him with carle one year early), and that we have sutton at #7 this year. I would also like to keep peckham as an 8th dman.

2012/13

Carle-NS
Smid-Petry
Whitney-JS
Sutton, (Peckham)

2013/14

Carle-NS
Smid-Petry
Klefbom-JS
Peckham/Teubert

If Whitney is healthy I would resign him as he is a legit number 2 dman, not many of them around, remember a few years ago how great he was when he was healthy. I would actually be happy just to start the season how the team is and see how things go. I am not saying we would be a cup threat but I think we would make a huge improvement than last year, I can see another 12 point improvement with the team as is.

Unless the oiler moved Eager there was no room for him. Same type of player IMO

If it will help you, have him sitting at the end of the bench as far from Babcock's glare as possible.
