Very Interested to see how Gabby Sanchez makes out though he won't see alot of pitches hitting 8th. Really worried about our bullpen and would have liked to see Stanton make the team in RF. Not sold on Maybin and rather have him the fourth outfielder until he proves he can hit and keep Cody in CF this season.

Our offense will be just fine this season, since it is mostly the same as last year. The only thing that really concerns me is the back end of our bullpen. I don't feel confident enough in Nunez as the closer right now.

Go Marlins!

Maybin played very well during his call up late last season. He has the skill to be a very good player for us.

As far as the team is concerned, we have question marks everywhere. Can Sanchez manage at the plate and at first? Can the pen hold up? Can we get the support from the rotation after JJ and Nolasco? With that being said, I still think this team will compete for the WC, and maybe even challenge the Phillies. A lot of people are sleeping on us again, and seem to have a crush on the Braves, but I think we are the second best team in the division.

The offense is going to be there, but our pitching, mainly our starters, need to put us in position to win most nights. Im not worried about JJ, and not so much Nolasco, but we need Volstad to perform to his abilities, and Sanchez to remain healthy, because he has good stuff. Robertson was added for that left handed presence, but i would have rather seen VH or Hensley get the nod. I dont think 12+ wins is out of the question for everyone except for Robertson.

I don't remember the last time I've been this excited for the Marlins season to start. Even though there are some possible questionable holes in the roster in both the offense and pitching, I think this may be the best team we've had since '03 and do indeed have a shot at competing with the Phillies & Mets for the division. I'm sitting here at work now with the Yahoo play-by-play thing updating. The offense seemed to be going somewhere in the 4th, but still nothing doing on the scoreboard. Come on Fish!

Mets are going to finish 4th in the division, and you heard it here first.

The 4th was the inning to get something on the board, but they failed. Its ok, we still have five innings left. Plus, its only game one.

I am really impressed with how Sanchez has looked at the plate today.

But they'll be in first heading into last 2 weeks before finishing 4th.

four and two with no bullpen, lousy defense and Mr. Johnson pitching like Mrs. Johnson. In other words, we're playing like crap and still winning games. Maybe it's our year.

I really wish the Panthers organization had a Larry Beinfest in it.

GP's right, they gotta start playing better, but all things considered we're 4-2, so solid first week. And somehow we're 3-0 in 1 run games.

And we were the best team in the NL last season in one run games. I think we are playing well for the most part, but the bullpen is a serious issue we are going to need to fix. If Beinfest can get us some help in the pen, I think we will be just fine.

Exactly. That is the team's really big hole, but other than that I don't see too many issues. It should be a good test this weekend against the Phillies. If the bullpen problems are fixed with guys like Pinto, Veras, and Meyer, I think we'll be competing with them for the division lead in September & October.

Nice. He has a pretty good relationship with Bobby Cox and I find him to be a pretty good manager. I could see him ending up in Atlanta next season.

I find it kinda weird that they fire him in the middle of a three game set, on the road, and coming off a good win. Oh well, I liked Gonzo, but I was never a fan of his decisions. This team, while boasting a bad bullpen, is underachieving, and they need a spark before while they still have a chance to do something.

Florida Marlins = Model of mismanagement (and I'm not talking about their bench manager)

I've been waiting for the past two seasons for this to happen at some point, but not after a two game winning streak. I don't think Fredi was a bad manager per say, but I definitely questioned some of the decisions he'd make in certain games. I don't see this really changing the demeanor of the team from here on out. If management actually got some decent guys for relief pitching and spent some money on free agents during the offseason, maybe they'd stop finishing around .500 one season and make the playoffs once again. I do like however that they've been locking up some of their young talent for multiple year contracts.
