I was getting so worried that if he hit July 1st that he would be gone, and I saw on twitter that they would be an update if he signs or not today, so I was tripping all day.

Can't believe we got him for only 1.8M.

He could of easy got 2.25-2.5M on July 1st.

One of the best 4th line wingers in the league, plays on the top unit of one of the leagues best pk.

Very high hockey IQ for a 4th line guy, can be put on literally any line and he'll adjust.

much respect Moen, you could have taken more as a UFA but stuck with HABS.

Great news.

these sandpaper guys build strong team bonds. they go to war and that brings out the best in the guys around them. makes a real band of brothers by the end of a season.
Excellent post. Definitely need sandpaper guys who will allow skilled players not to be intimidated. That's why I love Staubitz. He didn't hurt us when on the ice, and he helped us quite a bit just by his presence.
If we could somehow get Bourque to use his size. Let's hope MT has the right button.

I'd like someone else instead of Leblanc there, but that's just me. That's still an acceptable 3rd line either way.

You need that type of player, under 2M per, too. Term is a bit long but low $$$ makes it ok.

Good signing!

Very happy with this. Moen does what we need from him on the ice and it sounds like he is important for the team off the ice. Feels good that there are players who want to play in Montreal and I think Moen put his money where his mouth is. Even on a 4 year term I think he could have gotten up to $2.25M on the open market.
Wonder if Gaustad is anywhere in MBs sights because you do need to weigh what you are paying other players when you sign a guy. The guesses are Gaustad will get $3M plus, so is that an issue if you pay Moen half of that ? Just wondering.
Good job MB.

At first, I hate the length. But at 1.8 per year, that's pretty good.

The guy is gonna thrive under Therrien and the new coaching staff.

McClement? Hell yes.

Konopka? I'd rather just use Noke.
And Noke was our best face off guy last year.

I actually want to see

patches-pleks-gionta
bourque-dd-cole
leblanc-eller-moen
staubitz-white-?

all i want is to get bourque play like his 2nd year in calgary (27g, 31a). i think dd and cole can help him do that. as for patches, he'll be fine with pleks and gio.

besides, pleks-bourque dont have any chemistry. maybe it'll change next year but i dont see it..

Length is long a bit, expected him to get 2 or 3 at the most, but with Talbot getting 5years last season, I'm not surprised teams are starting to lock up good role players for longer than they used to. At 1.85m it's very acceptable.
Pretty decent to good move IMO.

A big, solid, dependable chunk of ham that's easy to coach and respected by everyone, you don't get that easy. Chris Neil gets a lot of praise around here, but Moen isn't much worse in the role.

1.85M is a great cap hit. 4 years means we get him up to 34, where we'll be in a good position to take a decision.

Great move by Da Berg.

Very happy about the signing! I, like most others, expected him to be making at least $500,000 more than he got.

Good deal for Moen. I would've preferred a 3 year to a 4 year deal, but it seems you can't get any free agents these days under 4 years unless that player is really old, like Gill, or is a borderline player/tough guy.

Moen is important to our PK. It didn't do as well when he went down, and he's a good defensive specialist who with Eller can put in some power forechecking shifts. Moen and Eller just seem to be a natural fit together. Maybe Moen can help out Bourque.

$1,85m is about where I thought he'd come in.

Good signing. Not sure what the correlation is between Staubitz though. Not the same type of player. Not the same purpose.

Great to retain Moen. Totally fine with that. Though as of now, the message seems to be that there's not a whole lot of interesting UFA that plays the role out there.

Again, good deal.

So happy with this signing!
And for that price... this is what women must feel like when shoes go on sale.
