I think Moen might play a bit of a meaner game with a meaner coach behind the bench. Martin (and Cunneyworth, by extension) favored a very passive&non-aggressive. I'm sure Moen is going to look even better if he puts more aggression in his game.

Not only the coach, but if we get more players willing to be mean to back him up.

Travis Moen is the prototypical player that will blossom even brighter than before under the coaching of Michel Therrien. Therrien loves guys that play a leadership role, strong physical presence on the ice and can come up big in desperate situations. That is exactly what Moen does.

He'll fit nicely into the third line, centered by Eller. Who will be on their other wing? Either Bourque or Leblanc, or possibly a UFA if the first two options do not work for Therrien. The good thing though is that Eller seems to play a better game with Moen on his wing. Moen creates a lot of space for Eller when he has the puck, which in turn can create a quality scoring chance with Eller's vision.

I can't hate this contract, even if it is for four years.
Amen!

And as you mentioned, Moen will probably play on the 3rd line and I think we will finally have a 4th line playing 4-8 minutes per game.

Good deal! I was expecting 2.5M per, especially with the Habs. I'm a happy fan!

It's not so much the coach as having a tougher team overall. If you add White plus get a Parros or Rosehill, Moen feels like he has help.

I'm so happy he wanted to stay after last year, the next 4 years will be his 'prime' years in the NHL and a career year is possible.

The terms are fine, i'm sure he could get like 2.2-2.5 on the open market. He knows MTL is one of the few places grinders are superstars.

A warrior on the ice, an exemple for the young players and one of the nicest HABS out of the rink with the fans.

Not to mention he played with Gorges with the Kelowna Rockets Both are here to stay long term now ))))))

Great move, now get a tough defenseman and a fourth line tough guy.

Yeah because by letting Moen go we automatically would jump 10 spots up right?

Perhaps a year too many, but very good value for Moen imo.

I like it.

Very happy. Maybe too many years but hey as long as he's tradeable near the end.

Great chat w/ #Habs Travis Moen, a prairie boy who sure knows how to celebrate a 4-year, $7.4-million contract. Column in the works

I'm starting to get scared that we'll re-sign every player we had last season.

Nokie , Moen...who's next ?
Kostitsyn and Gill ?
A solid bottom 6 is difference between good teams and great teams. Moen is one of the very best in this role. There is nothing not to like.

I think we all agree moen is part of the solution. Now find the players the other way around and trade them.

comments from Moen:

“Testing the market can definitely be tempting and it’s something you only get to do a few times over the course of your career. But my family and I love it in Montreal. Our first goal was really to be able to stay here,”

Fact 1 - This team is 28th best in a league of 30 teams
Fact 2 - The roster needs big changes
Fact 3 - Recent moves show the GM leaning towards status quo

Do I really need to connect the dots for you on these 3 facts or are you good to go figure it out on your own.

MacKinnon?

Personally, if we WERE going to finish in the dumps again next year. Moen is exaclty the kind of guy I'd like to surround our young core with. Veteran, cup winner, reliable on and off, skates well, hits well, kills penalties well, leadership, cool, tough, team first, etc. etc. etc.

Noki on the other hand is useless.
