The Ducks just paid for a nice three-year vacation for Sheldon. It's going to be fun watching them struggle to lock up Getzlaf and Perry and seeing them walk as UFAs.

He's wanted to be in Southern California for years, or so the rumor mill has churned. I'm sure he's elated and with a guaranteed 11 million plus headed his way I bet he's planning his own little parade.

Ok, can someone please update me on the Parise ordeal. I just got off of work not too long ago. I've heard mixed reports that we backed out of it, because we learned our lesson after kovalchuk/richards, but ive also heard that we are still in it and will have to wait until Parise makes a decision tomorrow.

Also, any news about us making a bid toward Suter?

Thanks.

I haven't heard about us talking to Suter at all. Parise is a long shot, but it sounds like he is still hanging onto our offer. Doubt he comes here, but it sounds like we will wait out the night to see what his decision is tomorrow.

Wyshynski of Puck Daddy said LA is off the list, don't think LA made Suter an offer.

If this was the Kings organization of years past, Parise would have turned down our offer by now.

While I certainly don't expect him to sign here, I do think us having a young, championship squad locked up, makes him consider our offer seriously.

Sounds like Penner's motivated...(From LA Kings Insider interview post signing)
Quote:
Question: Someone in your situation could have received a multi-year deal on the open market. Was that something you weighed in your mind, or were you comfortable coming back and kind of having another ‘prove-it’ year?

PENNER: ”I knew there were probably other teams that would have offered me more than a year. Like I said, I had taken the blue pill last time. This time, I wanted to take the red pill, if you follow The Matrix trilogy at all. So, I wanted to see what it was like to be back on a team that I won a championship with. It’s a great opportunity for myself, personally, to have the year I’ve wanted to have as a King. Last year wasn’t anywhere near people’s expectations, and especially my own. I look forward to having that opportunity to redeem myself further.’’
He also said he really like playing with Richie and Carts and they were starting to click but felt they could do a lot better, working on their game until they are firing on all clynders.

Can't argue with the man. Let's see what he can do. Although, I am personally hoping for:

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Gange-Richards-Carter
Penner-Stoll-Lewis

But, no matter what happens, it sounds like we are in for a better Penner next season, hopefully.

I think Parise has already decided where he's going but he's giving the Devils a little more time to tell him what he wants to hear (i.e. what's their plan on replacing Brodeur, acquiring more young talent, etc.) I don't expect the Devils to be able to keep him. Not sure who I think he goes to but I'd guess his top four are Detroit, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and New Jersey.

I am a big cynic lol.

I think FA hockey players truly ask " So how many bus rides does this team take to away games, and will I be in my own bed by 10:00PM EST."

Cause lets face it, the Money is always about the same. Unless it's a Kovi type deal.

West team calls them "(FA Player) You mean to tell me I have to fly to away games..... No thanks, hey agent call Another East team".

So the Flyers might have gone as high as 12 years $110 million each for Parise and Suter................

http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-phil...860&feedID=695

Yes, that's a 9.17m cap hit for 12 years, pure insanity

I think with money being equal, they prefer to sign with the teams near to their home, then ones they had a softspot for when they were kids. Unless they were crazy kids we aren't likely to be one of those for quite a few years and the same applies to most teams far in the West like us. Then past that, people they've built working relationships with. Which is why I'd love to wait for Iginla, because with Sutter as coach we've got a great shot. Of course the chance of being a winner factors in somewhere too.

I don't believe that one bit. They are already at $59M. Say they get those two, it'll push them over the 10% cap cushion that is allowed during the off-season and put them at over $78M.

Neither do I, especially when their basis is this:

Quote:
Sources said the Flyers made the same 12-year offer to both players, deals in excess of $80 million and perhaps as high as $110 million. Their offer is for more money than any other, sources say.
Your sources cannot eliminate a possible $30 million dollar gap in the offers? If they know their offers are the highest, they wouldn't need to offer up such a huge gap in the potential offers to give themselves enough wiggle room to say they're not wrong when the real dollar amounts leak.

Too funny. A lot of Canucks fans defending that Garrison contract. That contract is brutal for a 27 year old that had ONE good year.

It says they both received the same 12-year offers, unless they're saying the deals are only the same in length not term.

Can't see Holmgren being that dumb to offer two 12 yr 110 million contracts.

He basically did the same thing with currently on the Kings roster. They weren't UFA's though.
