Its awesome that we are not only gonna have the same team going into next season as we did when we won the cup, but theres a chance(not likely, I know) we also have one of Parise or Doan in there too.

Parise-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Carter
Penner-Stoll-Brown
King-Fraser-Lewis
Nolan/Richardson/Clifford/Westgarth(2 of the 4)

or

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Carter
Penner-Stoll-Doan
King-Fraser-Lewis

Epic. Can't help but be excited at the possibility of both those lineups, even if the chances are VERY slim...

As a Kings fan, you gotta really like what you're seeing from the other Pacific division teams right now.

that or the addition of ZP. i was talking to a guy at work that is a Hawks fan. he brought up if LA gets Parise, the WC will turn into a 7 team race for the POs. he loves what LA has done overall and as he put it, "they are stacked and to add one of the top 5 snipers would just be over the top".

Could always sign Doan for one year and figure out to do with his spot, whether it be keep him, get Iginla/Perry whoever later.

With the numbers being thrown around for Parise, I think it's a pipe dream for LA to sign him. Also, from Lisa Dillman's twitter post, it seems they don't have high expectations. I hope her mention of 'Plan B' is in fact Doan.

The type of player he is would fit in perfectly with Sutter's forechecking system. A big part of LA's success in the playoffs was that grinding, physical style and Doan would be a great fit here.

For those asking, Toronto, Buffalo & Edmonton are not in the Doan mix, if he decides to explore outside options.
Wait... cellar-dweller, black hole teams aren't in the mix for top UFA's? Particularly one who is 35 and wants to win ASAP?

Shocking... just... shocking.

So long as it's a short term deal. He's 35 and on the downward run. 1-3 years. 2 ideally.

Flash forward to next years playoffs...Kings opener against the Canucks...Sutter decides to send out Doan, Richards and Brown against the Sedin sisters...

A 2 year deal would be perfect. I'd think he be looking for at least that anyway (similar to Whitney).

Exaclty my thoughts, though I can't imagine Vancouver going into the playoffs as the 8th seed

Should the PHX situation not work out and Doan decides to test the open waters, based on the talk of him wanting to have a chance to win AND be close to his family, LA seems like a perfect fit.

In a sport where so many guys are of the "I hate him but would love him on my team" variety, Perry is of the even rarer "I hate him and DO NOT want him on my team" variety. The guy is a little *****.

Doan and Brown on the same line is the stuff hockey fans dreams are made of.

I still dream for a Brown-Richards-Doan line. That would wreak havoc throughout the Western Conference. And then trade a guy like Richardson for cheap instead of waiving him.

And no way Perry isn't resigned by Anaheim anyways. Not even Bob Murray is that dumb....I think

It's not completely up to Murray. Do you think Lou wants to lose Parise? UFAs have all of the power.

Jokinen signs with Winnipeg. 2 years $9, cap $4.5

Is it just me or is our main in-conference competition just treading water, or not improving?

I have no doubt Perry will return if he gets decent money. I think he wants to stay with Getzlaf for the long haul. Unless Murray low balls them.

Me as well, like I said earlier in this thread, I feel they're still in running, may be a long shot but still in the running but they're not putting their eggs in one basket, they're keeping their offer on the table and keeping tabs but also exploring elsewhere, hope he signs but if not, oh well.

What's crazy is that their lineup is still SO unimpressive.

FORWARDS
Alex Tanguay ($3.500m) / Mike Cammalleri ($6.000m) / Jarome Iginla ($7.000m)
Curtis Glencross ($2.550m) / Roman Cervenka ($3.775m) / Jiri Hudler ($4.000m)
Sven Baertschi ($1.425m) / Mikael Backlund ($0.827m) / Lee Stempniak ($2.500m)
Lance Bouma ($0.693m) / Matt Stajan ($3.500m) / Blake Comeau ($1.250m)
Tim Jackman ($0.613m) / Blair Jones ($0.650m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Jay Bouwmeester ($6.680m) / Dennis Wideman ($5.250m)
Mark Giordano ($4.020m) / Chris Butler ($1.250m)
Cory Sarich ($2.000m) / T.J. Brodie ($0.742m)
Derek Smith ($0.775m) /

GOALTENDERS
Miikka Kiprusoff ($5.833m)
Leland Irving ($0.660m)

Top two centers are... Cammalleri and Cervenka (who)? Oh boy. Tanguay is underrated and Iginla is Iginla, but damn. Good luck!

Although I was wrong about Phoenix last year, so who knows.
