Not much different than the offer the Kings made to Richards last year. Richards got $18 million in signing bonuses in the first 2 years and $24 million overall. His cap hit is $6.67. Parise will be similar. It was the Kings offer that the Rangers had to match to get him to sign. Calgary offered the most money to Richards.
Wll NJ be able to match that kind of cash offer? With Kovalchuk gettin $11+ and Marty wanting $5 million next season, that could be $30 million in cash for next season. They also have a balloon dept payment due in August.
I wonder if Pittsburgh will make an exception to their no-frontloading policy on contracts? Parise is definitely getting most of his money in the first 3 years of any deal and we know Dean will offer that kind of front-loaded contract and we know AEG has the cash to make it happen.
I still expect Parise and Suter to sleep on any offers from today. Just like Richards did.
Wow, 12mm signing bonus? I wonder if Uncle Phil would even entertain that. And I really wonder about any owner that would.
Bring back Penner. We don't need this kid. SO many positives to bringing back this team intact, with players who REALLY want to be here, and want Cups more than trying to squeak every last cent out of the organization.
Let Parise be someone else's albatross. Worked out well for us with Kovalchuk, didn't it? We have the Cup, NJ has nothing but financial trouble.
I sure hope the Kings don't have to go through what the Devils' fans are going through with Parise right now. The only drama the Kings have had are when they are pursuing other team's UFAs. Imagine if Brown wants to test the market in three years?
Dean (and AEG) has spoiled the Kings by signing his players before July 1st. Doughty was a special case because he was a RFA and wasn't going anywhere but LA.
