I would think it would be kinda cool to be booed by your teams rival, means you've arrived. This is sports, these guys should be used to it. The fans pay good money to be able to boo and cheer for whomever they like.

Maybe, but it's great when the GM trolls the boo birds ala Holmgren/McPhee.

Boo the GM/ organization all you want, but let the kid have his moment.

Weirdest exception I've seen, Kings fans were booing Anaheim at the podium and then burst into cheers and applause when they picked Etem.

This is quite ok, what it should at least be.

I think drafting can not be said to be a sport. Booing the drafted players is like booing an olympics winner of some sport after he/she has walked to the podium. They should get their cheers then and the boos later when there is a sport event going on.

Would you boo a guy on the bus or in an airplane if he happened to be a player of different team than "yours", that would be more okay than to boo a person at their highest moment.

Being drafted is life, hockey game is a sporting event.

If the kids become good players, how will he survive the PHI@PIT games if he couldnt take a little booing? .They better get used to it. Great players like Crosby and Ovechkin are booed pretty much every arena.

I thought it was totally rude to these teenagers and their families. It's one of the biggest days in this kid's life, and that elation had to be soured somewhat by the jerks in the crowd. I get that booing your rival team is part of the "fun" of sports, but jfc, let each kid and his family have a minute or two to enjoy the moment of being drafted into the organization. It's a life changing moment!

They'll get booed the rest of their playing careers anyway.

The Flyers deserve every boo they get. There is and was absolutely no way the Devils fans won't do it to the Flyers next year and the Flyers won't do it to both teams in 2014. The Atlantic Division is too heated for fans to call an armistice.

No one is saying they can't take it, or shouldn't in the future. The question in this very specific situation is why they should have to. Why should we as fans feel so self-important that we feel the need to put our big, negative, callous thumbprint on the moment of greatest achievement for a teenager and his family?

Nope, it's a great "Welcome to NHL and our rivalry... get used to it" moment.

I would argue that booing is more respectful than disrespectful. Look who gets boo'd. The best in the game. No one ever boo'd the useless player buried way down the depth chart who nobody knows. This is not a graduation ceremony, it is an introduction to the NHL. If I were one of the kids that got boo'd by a rival fan base, I would have enjoyed it to be honest. Better than to be yawned at.

No

These might be 18 year olds but they understand that they're being booed because of the rivalry and nothing else. Like if the Flyers fans won't be boiing in 2 years

I don't think rivalries and booing is the way to go if you want to be classy.
