If $20 is the problem, I'll donate it.

But seriously, no. Offering a 3rd jersey (if you're going to exclude the red and green jersey that they HAVE been selling) wouldn't make up $20 mil. Especially if this is something they started in the playoffs. This is something that would have had to be created years ago, and updated to induce more sales over the years. And lets not forget it would have to be popular enough amongst fans to create 100,000+ ADDITIONAL jersey sales. The people that were going to get a jersey that now choose a 3rd jersey instead of a red or white one doesn't count as additional revenue. That was revenue that they would have had without a 3rd jersey. To attribute this to marketing is crap. You're completely losing sight of how merchandising affects financials and are grossly overestimating the impact of something like a new jersey. You know what would have helped for the debt issues? Some long playoff runs since the team came to Newark before this season. THAT was the only reasonable thing they could have done to avoid/lessen the impact of the money issue. But they didn't, so that financial opportunity didn't pan out. That's it. A couple new jerseys aren't going to fix the problem... unless you're willing to buy 100,000 of them tomorrow. That would be just swell.

Why aren't you sitting at the bargaining table with JVB and his creditors? This compromise just might work.

soooo anyone know who this is? Pagnotta retweeted it:

Dennis Bernstein ‏@DennisTFP

Following up on lead story on TFP yesterday, wouldn't be shocked if new suitor for Devils comes into play shortly.

he writes for The Fourth Period, I'm not sure if TFP is credible or not cause I know nothing about them. Though I see plenty of people reposting their tweets on these forums a lot of the times.

Followed Pagnotta (from TFP) for the last couple years. He's reliable. He isn't often "breaking" news, but he's very quick with a lot of it, and doesn't just spread rumors with no substance. If I see something from him or TFP I tend to believe it.

VBK's drop dead date is in a week, at this point new suitor could = new majority owner waiting in the wings.

At some point, VBK would have to think selling his beloved team is worth not having the bills, right?

Best Case Scenario would be a new owner. We cant be held back by an internal budget

Seems like a likely scenario.

What guy is going to come in and inject massive cash so someone else can stay in charge. Instead they could just wait a week and have this guy shown the door and step in as the man for probably the same amount.

It's getting to the point where he won't have a choice in the matter.

The Throwback jersey isnt a 3rd jersey, its a THROWBACK.

A 3rd Jersey is something that will get worn more than once a year. Theres no reason the Devils shouldnt have a 3rd either. Its easy revenue and something that Lou should back down on his stance with.

It would be nice to see the "NJ" without the white circle and black outline behind it. I've suggested a mostly black w/red, sort of similar to the practice jersey. Everytime I mention a potential 3rd, some OG Devils fan acts appalled by the notion.

Turning the Devils Dancers into strippers wouldn't raise enough money?

Youd have to sell a ******** of jerseys to make it work and no thank you.

Not having a 3rd jersey has little - nothing - to do with the ARENA DEBT that is the root of the financial issues.

We already get made fun of by Hockey media for having Cheerleaders as it is. You shouldve heard some of the comments out of Canadian media during the SCF in regard to.

I honestly wish we didnt have them. That's some "mickey mouse" idea if there ever was one.

Cheerleaders are ridiculous in every sport that isnt Cheerleading.

No. But if you can convince strippers to join the Devils Dancers, I`m sure the attendance numbers will go up.

And no thanks to 3rd jerseys. I`m glad that Lou values tradition and knows the importance of having an identity.
