After the season ended, there was no way Schultz was signing with anyone before July 1, for financial reasons. Would have made no sense. Therefore, no one would give up anything. They allegedly gave Toronto a window, but probably because Burke asked, and even though they knew he wouldn't sign.

I personally would rather not rely on a 38 year old injury prone vet or an unproven rook. Somewhere in between would be nice. Suter please

Well, we can still hope for the tampering rumors to be true.

If they are, you should hope the Oilers get him, their picks are way better.

If they file tampering charges only against the team that gets him, then they have nothing.

Put aside your personal preferences and admit it: it'd be nice to see the Oilers win a free agent race for a top-tier young NHLer for once.
Mmmm no.

What's worse Erixon or Schultz? I'd say Schultz at least Calgary got stuff back and it was taken care of within days.

Lots of players have their rights traded and sign before July 1, i think it's just more likely the Leafs weren't at the top of his list.

Definitely Schultz.

This is ridiculous.

It's all good if he signs with the Leafs though

First go watch three straight years of disgustingly bad hockey of the team you absolutely love. Then come back and see if you have any empathy.

There was a bit of incentive to making such a deal, but there's also the knowledge Schultz isn't going to sign with you before July 1. And since you'd lose his rights a week before(which wouldn't happen with others), he'd easily talk with other teams. All you'd get is a bit of a head start, which could help, but who knows.

"Desperate" and "Pathetic" teams(like the Oilers who brought in Gretz and Coffey) could not possibly be competent enough to tamper, right?
