And just in case someone is wondering, these are not full-time refs.

I'm watching Eisbären Berlin - Kölner Haie right now and Philip Gogulla and Felix Schütz are both playing.
I remember when I thought Gogulla was going to be on the Sabres one day.
It's probably because he was pretty good when I went to one of the Pirates games at HSBC.

Alright gents, I'll be watching tonight's Quebec Remparts match, I'll try and update whenever I can/remember to.

I'll keep an eye on Erne for draft-related reasons, but I'll also try and keep pace with Grigorenko as well, of course.

Erne scored his fourth of the year. Rebound off a shot by Grigorenko in the slot, 2-0 Quebec.

Isackson scored again for Minnesota tonight; assisted by Bjugstad, so it'll be nice to see what he can do with solid linemates AND if he can stay in their top-six.

Grigorenko with the goal, his seventh of the season, an absolute bullet of a one timer near the point.

He's smallish and slow... but man, the puck sticks to the kid and he can make plays in tight. Someone who would be a great long-term story if he could make it.

Yeah I remember thinking that Gogulla has a future with the big club as well. Schütz just didn't have the talent although he was a good character-guy, but I was really disappointed when Gogulla left the Pirates to go back to Germany.

Edit: Is this already regular season for Isackson?

Tonight's Minnesota's opener; his natural hat-trick was preseason play.

The worry is of course if his linemates are making him look good, or if it's a result of his own development.

The good news is he'll still have a few years before a decision needs to be made, so plenty of time to figure that out.

Weird game.

Grigorenko (1st line C): 6 faceoffs
Etchegary (2nd line C): 17 faceoffs
Poudrier (3rd line C): 21 faceoffs
Lamarre (4th line C): 10 faceoffs

Wasn't a great game from him, but unlike others (most of my Montreal Canadiens compatriots) I think it's positive to see a player being able to produce when he isn't dominating sometimes, shows that he can produce out of nowhere.

On a side note, I really like Adam Erne, intense, great skater and was able to make plays.

Quebec's play-by-play man pretty much confirmed tonight that Grigorenko will stay in Quebec all season.

Grigorenko was pretty dominate tonight. He had two absolute rockets and was controlling tempo all night long.

It looks way too easy for him. I'm not really sure what he has to prove in the Q. He looks as ready as Sheifele does in Barrie right now, so I'd be suprised if he doesn't get a very long look from the Sabres. He just looks like a man amungst boys out there (at least tonight).

Surprised he only got the 2nd star, though. Maybe I missed something? Should also point out his compete level was very good tonight and I think when it does look like he is floating he is actually reading the play.

He looked pretty good to me. Especially for a hostile road game where they were booing him when he touched the puck.

He looked okay, not great in my opinion. His 2 goals were rockets, and his statline was more indicative of his talent than his overall play tonight.

Yeah, I think he could definitely step it up a level, especially in open ice. However, I thought his play along the boards was top notch.

Nonetheless, compared to the competition around him it all seemed way too easy for him.

Isackson's defensive play getting noticed:
Quote:
Christian Isackson scored a hat trick in Minnesota’s 7-0 exhibition win over Lethbridge and added another Friday for his first official collegiate goal. The Buffalo Sabres draft pick is getting chances playing alongside Bjugtad and Rau, however, it was his play in the defensive zone that stood out more. Prior to the goal, Christian made a backcheck to stop a developing Michigan State odd-man rush. He then proceeded to get down the ice and into position at the top of the slot to receive a pass from Bjugtad and snipe home a goal.
