I can't remember if that's what he needed surgery on and decided against having it so he could play, but if he's out for any period of time, they'll be in trouble down the middle.
Perhaps they'll try Duclair there like Roy suggested earlier.

Well, it's a difficult situation because of the Euro limit (two per team) and the lockout creating uncertainty, but I still think something happens soon.
Only overage players and Euros can be traded right now though, so the Remparts would have to defer compensation until the trading window opens up in December (aka receive picks and trade them back to whatever team they receive them from for players when they are allowed to).

If they ever get a firm answer on whether Grigorenko will stay there for the whole season, I'm sure they'd be able to find a deal quickly.
Last I read though, it's still not 100%.
As SC said a few days ago, it was apparently confirmed by Rouyn-Noranda coach André Tourigny, but the play-by-play guy for the Remparts, who is also very close with Roy, still doesn't seem to think it's 100%.

Thanks for the info.

Man thats a lot of moving parts to have to worry about for a trade to happen. It sucks Grigorenko and the other 2 kids are caught up in this and have to be healthy scratches on a rotating basis.

Grigorenko is indeed in tonight, but has been demoted to the second line.
He'll center Jason Houde and Axel Rioux.
Erne-Shaw-Sörensen will be the top line.

Demoted? Has his play dropped off, or just a shake up because they got destroyed last night?

Well, he reportedly wasn't very good last night but I think the team as a whole has sagged as of late, so it's probably a bit of both.

It seems to be a much better night for the Remparts. 6-0 at the beginning of the 3rd. Grigorenko with a goal and an assist.

On a side note Adam Erne (who I believe should be a 1st rounder in 2013) with 4 goals and 1 assist. Crazy 5 point night for him.

Played a total of 22.32(!) today against KalPa. Didn't have much going for him for the most part of the game, but was absolutely dominant in the final 10min or so when he also scored a pretty goal to make 3-4 for Ässät. Unfortunately it was the last goal scored.

Catenacci continues to lead his Owen Sound team by scoring the winner and adding an assist in a 3-1 win over Sudbury as they keep rolling leading the entire OHL. Don't be surprised if this kid ends up being the the most NHL ready prospect while not being given the hype of some other Sabres prospects. I have said all along, he's the most complete player in the OHL that can play any role for a club which is so valuable to NHL clubs. I heard a radio interview by Owen Sounds's GM where he stated that there isn't a better forward in the OHL right now than the Cat. He's matched up every night against the opposing top lines shutting them down while also putting up numbers. Cat's PK is outstanding and draw % is also off the charts. His leadership, skill, and fearless compete level are those intangibles that make the difference at the next level. Don't be surprised to see this kid up earlier than expected.

I'm glad he's finally making good on his high Junior draft status. I'm still not sure where he slots in at the NHL level (I agree with Zip about him probably topping out as an elite third liner) but I was saying the same things about Foligno this time a few years ago...

For a 3rd round pick I'd be thrilled if he turned out that good. Besides, going forward we have our top 2 center positions filled. If he can give us depth at 3rd line center it just makes the team that much more dangerous.

I also believe there was a reason he was chosen as the consensus 1st overall OHL draft pick. His skill and skating level is elite, even at the NHL level. He can easily translate to a top six forward given the opportunity and development. He was a steal for the Sabres and I've read a number of articles after the 2011 draft, stating he was the steal of that draft.

I remember quite a few scouts having Cat in the first round leading up to the draft, this was one I could find,

Good to hear about Cat.

The main concern about him was size, was it not? I would be ecstatic if he turned into a david helm type of player.

From memory it seems that whenever I read tweets about Owen Sound tying or winning the game Cat was involved in the play the majority of the time.

Grigs was indeed benched today as part of the scheduled rotation.

Man that blows..... what a waste since he can't even play in the AHL. Not only is he playing in an inferior league, but due to league rules he can't even dress every night....

Totally agree, he will most likely only play 60-70% of the rest of the season. =(

He will maybe miss 5 games tops because of the rotation, once Sorenson can be moved for players he will be gone. He may even be moved before that for picks, which would then be dealt for players.

Lieuwen gets his first pro win today in a 6-5 SO in Orlando. He made 28/33 saves and stopped all shootout attempts; 3 GA were PPG.

Is he really having trouble or is his defense really bad? Those are not the kind of numbers still that you want to see.

This afternoon in Owen Sound Cat had 1G and 1A in a 5-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires.

Saw him play a few weeks ago against Medicine Hat.
The Blades actually won and he was pretty good, but his inconsistency is also part of the reason the Blades are so awful.

You're making a bigger deal out of it than it should be, along with many other people it seems.

Keep in mind that the ECHL isn't exactly filled with talent.
You can't really judge goalies by numbers in that league.

It's kind of a ****** situation for the Remparts. From what I have read in this thread if the NHL season ever starts then Grigorenko will be with the Sabres (why they want to rush him to the NHL I have no idea), so what happens if they trade one of their Euros (not Grigorenko) and the NHL season starts. The Remparts are kind of screwed. I wonder if they trade Grigorenko because of that scenario.

Grigorenko has struggled recently, I can't see him turning pro now. He can't even beat 'inferior league' players one on one. He loses every battle for the puck. Erne looks way better.

He's good when he has the puck and nobody touches him though.

Impossible to say without at least seeing highlights, but for comparison's sake, the recently demoted Scott Stajcer (NYR '09 5th) stopped 30/32 in a win last night and then there was Adam Courchaine, the goalie Greenville released to add Stajcer, who also had a better stat line.
