Interesting. No DiGuiseppe or Seth Griffith. I wonder if Catenacci has an outside shot now. Still, I think he'll need an extremely impressive camp to make it, especially if they load up on muscle/size in the bottom-6 (Wilson, Ritchie, Sissons, et al.).
This season Catenacci has been one of the best juniors in Canada. His all round game and leadership has made the Owen Sound Attack one of the best teams in the CHL. His coach said in an interview that so far for him, Cat has been MVP in the league or player that has meant most to his team.
I'm glad to see that HC has taken notice because it's well deserved. He's an all round player that can do it all. Cat's speed is exactly what they need on that Olympic ice suface and not those bigger power forward types that are slower. The Russians will be flying and I believe that HC has figured that out. It will for sure be a different game on that big ice.
Cat has also played wing on the first line with Nugent Hopkins and Ritchie at the U-18Ivan Hlinka Tournament winning the gold for Canada. He can PP, PK, play centre or wing, and win the big draws so I believe he's got a good shot.
No, but I haven't thought he would since last season and I haven't really followed him at all this season.
He just doesn't look to do anything well enough to be worth a contract, much like Shipley.
Yep, I don't see the harm in sending him, he's had a tough time adjusting to the AHL like you predicted, let him play against some normal competition.
Maybe they don't see Latvia going very far and would prefer to have him stay in Roch?
Well, even if they don't go far, it's still an important experience.
He likely would have been the captain and would have been relied on in all situations, as he's the best player on the roster.
The supporting cast, at least among the forwards, is actually pretty decent so they may have been able to pull off an upset or two.

I agree, I'd be really disappointed if they didn't allow him to go.
What team is that? There are 30 "ex-teams" that don't have a working CBA. Or I guess you can say there are 30 team names with no players allowed to play for those teams.
So no, today, Grigs, Girgs, or whoever doesn't make a team.
