The Leafs are not after Nash.

Unfortunately this is the mentality of the current owners.

Why would the current owners care when they aren't going to be the owners in a couple of months?

So the owners of a team don't decide who to sign and spend money on? And I don't make sense? Wow.

Sources say that the Raptors will have at least five members of the organization waiting in New York this weekend to visit Nash as soon as he's ready Sunday, with Toronto widely expected to make the richest financial offer Nash receives this offseason to come back to Canada. The offer is likely to approach $12 million annually, sources say.

Lets dumb it down.

You think a multi billion dollar company pays the Brians to look pretty? They spend 10's of millions on exec salaries to sit there and do nothing? All these high dollar execs are here to cover all bases. They aren't gonna lose out on some small fry just because their to focused on the big fish. That's why they have Brian Colangelo AND Brian Burke. And Claude Loiselle. And Nonis. And Fletcher etc etc.

The Leafs never sign any good free agents though.

Am I right?

Richest team in the league that nobody wants to sign with and that has drafting difficulties as of late...

The Force is with us, but that's about it.

Look at it this way. Players would rather go to Edmonton and Ottawa than Toronto

Nah Edmonton and Toronto have roughly the same appeal for free agents.

Toronto Average temp minus 5 C

Edmonton Average temp minus 30 C

The only good thing about edmonton is that its close to the mountains.

And they have a kick ass card shop to purchase hockey cards.

They actually aren't all that close to the mountains either.

Both Edmonton and Ottawa are young teams with strong prospect pools with promising futures, and have a proven track record of playing the kids, giving them top minutes while rebuilding with limited expectations while they develop.

For a young player that seeks ice-time and opportunity those are desirable qualities.

Look at what happen to Schenn a young Dman in Toronto of being already sent packing, with expectations at ages 18-21 already having far exceeding his development curve and thus deemed expendable at an early age. That is not a desirable outcome scenario when trying to lure a young dman to TO.

If a team like Ottawa can say, look at what we have accomplished and developed a young Dman like Karlsson into a Norris trophy winner, then that is a much better role model scenario for attracting players to be a part of, than running them out of town early on.

I'd be a little surprised however if Ottawa won the sweepstakes, as there are more closer personal links to other organizations in the running for Justin's services.

They're going to need that PP cause their going to concede about 5 goals a game still.

Either Leafs or the Western Conference.

Let him go to EDM if he wants. They don't even need OFD. Who the heck is gunna play defense.

I just hope it's not Ottawa, I don't care if we don't get him but I'd rather not see him 6 times a year. And Ottawa drafts / develops well enough as it is.

Ottawa also traded David Rundblad away, I guess we should cross them off the list too...

Not sure if all 22 year olds dream of playing in front of their parents.
