For not having a shot at good players, yes.

If he didnt spend any money it would be one thing. But he was willing to spend money. Just decided to spend it on guys like Komi instead of Richards.

True.

To distract us and make us laugh, go read the Canucks Schultz thread. They're having a major freak out over this

Once again, if cheering for the Leafs makes you unhappy, why not cheer for someone else? Or spend your time on other pursuits? Why moan and groan all over the Internet?

So your rule is, in order to be a fan you have to be happy when the team is being run terribly? You must have enjoyed the 80s...or are 7 years old.

There's the first coveted free agent that we won't get.

lol I read the most bitter post by a Nucks fan in that thread and it turned out to be the Nucks fan that was calling a Leafs fan bitter even though the Leafs fan was only making a joke.

Ive seen a few of them wishing injury on Schultz.

I can deal with EDM that gives him top a shot at 4 minutes for which Burke can't sincerely match.
But Burke better not be outbid for a player by the leaf's division rival/Ottawa

Actually, during much of the 80s, I took the second option and really didn't follow the Leafs much at all. I spent most of the time I would have spent following the Leafs, doing other things.

It just seems really dumb to me to waste time on things that are annoying you.

What if they bid the same thing and he just chose Ottawa instead?

Schultz gets the same money everywhere, so I don't see how you can blame Burke for this. He obviously doesn't want to come here and best of luck in the future (unless you go to the Sens. Then **** you).

Rather the Oilers.

Their fans are annoying, but I'd like to see their team come together and light up the Canucks for years to come. That'll be a reaction worth seeing.

So I'm hoping its the Oilers that win the sweepstakes if its not us as that team will be really exciting to follow and watch. Because of the time zone difference in the West we also get to see a 2nd NHL game in prime time on HNIC and while western team I usually follow is Calgary, the Oilers in addition to Schultz would sway my interests their direction to watch that young core group come together.

Please not Ottawa..
I agree with you for the exact same reasons.

I'm not going to change my stance (not that it matters much).

I would have been very excited to add another young offensive defenseman that is probably ready to play in the NHL but this can't really get me down on the Leafs.

We drafted Rielly and Finn and traded an immobile defenseman for JvR.

Plenty of offense in our defense already. IIRC, we were a top 5 team in the league terms of getting points from our defenseman and that is with having plugs like Komisarek on our team and guys like Schenn and Gunnar who aren't really strong in the offensive zone.

I hope Burke goes out and gets a veteran D at a reason cost that plays solid D.

Please Schultz, choose Edmonton. Hate the Sens and everything about them.

Salvador is a free agent I think. If we can get short term, I'll be fine.
