Leaf defense is better with Schenn than without him....I will say it now...JVR is the new whipping boy when he doesn't live up to the hype!!!!!
It was a fantastic trade. The Leafs already replaced and improved on Schenn in getting Matt Finn (yes Finn not the first rounder). I am sure we can bring up someone from the Marlies and not really notice he is gone.
You got that right. He is all hype. Going 2nd overall and performing the way he did for the Flyers... he was a bust and that is why he was dealt.
He has not scored more than 21 goals playing in 75 games in a NHL season. Totally overhyped.
Burke is a joke.
What amazing accomplishment has Schenn "the miracle worker" performed that is so deserving of bashing this absolute steal of a trade. JVR is going to be a powerhouse by the time he is 26 (The age Grabo broke out).

Really? Look at his injuries. With the major concussion and hip issues.
If you talk to Flyers fans(or read their forums prior to the trade), they will say JVR was at the very least a top 6 forward. So I hope you armchair GMs don't mind if I take their opinion over yours.

using his big frame to create space and his skating ability to find open lanes to drive the net. He stands 6-3 and is a natural goal scorer with plenty of confidence.
He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.
Maybe you should acquaint yourself with JVR's playoff performance two years ago.
Great, that was 2 years ago.
Since then he has had a major concussion that sidelined him for almost the entire season. Once you get your bell rung like that you are never the same. It comes easier each time the brain has suffered major trauma. Look at guys Like Lindros and Marc Savard and so on.

Almost the entire season? He didn't even miss 20 games due to concussion issues.

Sure, and Parise will not even pick the phone up when he sees its Burke. No way he comes to Toronto. But, can you really blame him?
This is the only trade I can think of (although I guess you can count the Dion Phaneuf trade of a few years ago) where, at least on paper, Brian Burke has won the trade conclusively. One only has to read through the countless threads and posts on the Flyers forum to realize how truly angry most Flyers fans are with this trade. That should tell us as Leafs fans everything we need and want to know. As it stands now, Burke won this trade.

I can't think of one, other than the Kessel trade, where he didn't hose the other team.

That's why I thre the word "conclusively" in there. Aside from the Phaneuf trade, I think an argument could be made for both sides as to who ultimately won, at the time of the trade.
