Does buying out Armstrong mean that the Leafs record will forever be a losing one? Remember the Armie fanbois who used to cite the Leafs record with him and without him in the lineup?
Seriously...good riddance..don't let the door hit you on the ass Armstrong. One of the most useless FA signings I have witnessed as a Leafs fan. Rivaling Komisarek, IMO...possibly even Jeff Finger.
I like the move. Nice job Burke. So far addition of JVR and removal of Armstrong. I like it.
It's not about Army, it's about Aki Berg.
Fact: Leafs have not made playoffs since parting ways with Aki.
Think about it.

Any intelligent analysis of Armstrong would include the fact that he was as advertised before all of the injuries hit.
The usual suspects ignore that.
What he was advertised as and what he actually was are two different things entirely...I dont even understand why that has any bearing on whether in hindsight Armstrong sucked or not.....or the fact that it was the right move for the organization right now. I never cared for him at all....from the start. Check my history if you wish. He contributed very little as a Toronto Maple Leaf. Burke couldn't even get a low pick for him? Not a even a 7th, like he did for Gustavsson (conditional that the Leafs won't get as it looks like he won't be signing with the Jets)...

So you disliked Armstrong before their was any reason to dislike him, which was the point I was making.
Leafs will now be paying him (through buyout) to play against them.

As terrible and direction-less as the Leafs are right now, at least our misery has company in Montreal
Rick Dudley obviously had a lot of input into this move for Montreal as Colby brings a lot of intangibles to a room..
We also saw when healthy what Armstrong can do, and with Leafs picking up and paying him $1 mil to play in Montreal now it made his new deal at $1 mil worth the gamble as opposed to $3 mil he had with the Leafs.

Yes and smart on Montreal for a 1 year $1m low risk deal.
What was the team thinking of a 3year $3M deal for Army
That is the bigger problem.
At any rate good for Colby I hope he does well while the habs fail.
