Tough wrap. Great guy. Time for him to dig deep and get a comeback under his belt

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Leafs Nation doesn't need quitters. And if Burke made a concerted effort to land Schultz and the kid decides to go elsewhere, how is that a bad move? I can you calling it a bad if Burke made no effort, but all indications are that he has definitely tried.

Good luck to him. Injuries took the best out of him. I hope he signs in the West and get his career back on track.

My guess is, it's not cap space, just that Army didn't fit into the long term plan anymore and the best thing for everyone was a buyout. Although cap space and roster spot are always a consideration, but this is the only window in which to buy him out.

Free agency does start tomorrow. I hope not Luongo too. I mean what would we be able to complain about with improved goaltending.

Dont let the door hit ya..... This was a good move by Burke, opening up a roster spot. Is there something on the horizon tomorrow for them doing this move today, the day before FA opens? Loved Colby signing but grew tired of him being made of glass. Good luck Army, you will find employment tomorrow likely.

So the guy who played 79 out of 164 possible games with the Leafs was the heart and soul?? We're in trouble.

Oh and just for your information, we're still paying Tucker his money.

This is the richest franchise in NHL, why can't we bury players instead of ****ing buying them out. We're not the Blue Jackets FFS.

Obviously clearing cap room for a big move tomorrow. Bring it on.

Not a fan of this. Colby was overpaid since day 1, but people forget how good he was in our bottom 6 his first year until he got hurt. Last year he was awful but cut him some slack with all the injuries.

This move makes sense. Armstrong was injured a lot in his time in Toronto. Buying Armstrong out gives him the chance to sign else where while opening a forward slot for someone like the likes of Kadri. You can say all you want about Burke but it was the right move.

Then it could've been ACK!

I'm not one for optimism, but the prospect pool Burke took over, til now, is MILES better than it was. It's night and day how bad it was. The team may not be there yet, but having one of the youngest groups in the NHL already, that comes with the territory.

Sorry to see Armstrong go as he had a hell of a heart. Too bad for all the injuries.

Wow, that is rather surprising. He was pretty effective when [rarely] healthy. It sucks that it didn't work out for him here, he was the part of LACK I wanted to get rid of the least.

Good luck to Armstrong, hopefully he pans out elsewhere.

He had some good moments but it didn't work out here. Good luck to him in the future.

Glad Burke is making things happen

We had too many bodies that would edge out rookies based on experience alone. Good move buying him out. I would have preferred Lombardi but eh.

Actually, it seems that he's being put on waivers to be bought out. But I think if someone claims him, then there is no cap hit for the Leafs at all.

I'm assuming it's room for Prust to fit while re signing the rest of the RFA's.
