Exactly

Armstrong >>>>>>> Lombardi

But noooo we just have to buy out the better, and more physical player.

He'll find his game, he's a good guy. I love him and will always root for him wherever he goes.

I love the guy. Was a fan prior to his signing and still am a fan. Great personality and by all accounts, a great teammate. Had a rough deal in Toronto since he was never able to stay healthy long enough to really make an impact.

On a cheaper contract, he'll find work somewhere very quickly. Like Gustavsson and Luke, I wish him nothing but the best.

I figured something was up after that tweet Army posted.

I remember being one of the only people excited about signing him, even at $3M/year. He was well worth it when healthy. I'll never forget that one game against the Bruins where he basically just trolled Chara for 60 minutes, getting in his face in front of the net, pretending to wipe tears out of his eyes.... .

Wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up. I was actually hoping we'd just bury his salary in the minors, would've been great to watch him with the Marlies next season.

Lombardi is on his way out too. (imo)

Connollly and Komisarek stay.

We need a RHD and Komisarek is servicable.

That being said I wouldn't be opposed to trading him and letting Holzer take his spot

Colby Armstrong is being bought out by TOR. Will be on unconditional waivers at 12 noon ET.
I have no idea how this works.

I think Colby wanted out too. Remember those tweets from his brother. Perhaps this is just burke helping a player who wanted out anyways

Lombardi better be out of here by tomorrow or Burke will have descended to Feaster level with this amateur move.

I still think we have too many forwards from my count..

That's considering that Kadri & Frattin start their season with the Leafs.

The reason we didn't bury him is because Burke is classier than that; he wanted to give the guy a chance to play in the NHL. Yes, he buried Finger but Jeff wasn't his signing.

Well does Burke want class or does he want championships.

Hmmm.

Okay maybe I exaggerated a little but there's at least 2 players I'd get rid of before Armstrong.

Brutal news to wake up to.

Why didn't we just put him on waivers?

Even re-entry waivers would have meant he doesn't count against the cap in 2013-14 season.

How much better can you possibly think he is? He got like 25 points in 80 games and didn't play very physical because he was hurt all the time.

Seems like a good team guy who'd be good in the locker room etc. But how can you really be this upset?

This.

To be honest, I think that's the right thing to do to a nice guy. He's going to end up in Pittsburg with his buddy Sidney.

Good riddance, nothing more than a 4th line plug who never could stay healthy, with Kadri, Frattin, Colberg, Lemorov all coming on board itís time to cut the dead weight and put in some hungry young guns. Now onto Lombardi and Macarthur.

I believe it works like this. Armstrong is put on waivers (I believe it is a special kind that leads to buyout). If he is claimed, the Leafs pay nothing and Armstrong simply belongs to the new team for the last year of his contract at 3M. If he is not claimed, the Leafs buy him out at a cap hit of 1M this year and next.

It's speculation on my part, but Lombardi went down with a shoulder injury this season and at the time it was reported he probably needed surgery in the off season. My guess is, Lombardi will be on IR to start the season. I also believe there is a clause where you cannot buyout an injured player, but I could be mistaken.

Anyway, Army's position seems to have been filled by Komorov. I hate to lose him, but, play the kids, I always say. One less spot filled by a vet.
