Really? People are replacing a 30 year old vet who's played on Crosbys wing, with a 25 year old rookie?
The summer has just begun. For all we know we could be getting a guy like Prust who isn't injury prone like Army.

The confidence card is a nice blanket excuse for all the mediocrity that's been running through this town for a decade now. I was watching some 2002-03 Leaf games and the saddest thing of all is the fact that Aki Berg looked so damn good out there. Efficient, very mobile, made solid outlet passes. He looked like a million bucks.

Is the crap we watch today making the past look good or did we have it good back then and not even realize it?

This is garbage. Please can someone explain to me how this is true? Heart and soul of a garbage franchise while sitting on the sidelines.

Before today: "Burke is so incompetent, can't believe his free-agent signings, we need to ship out LACK before the end of the summer"

Today: "WHAT?!? ARMSTRONG BOUGHT OUT?!? THE HEART AND SOUL OF OUR TEAM?!? FIRE BOURKE!"

There's no pleasing some people.

Now we go after Bissonette. Even if he comes just to be a healthy scratch all year we need somebody like him for 24/7 haha

I agree Mess, injuries marred his time here, good guy and funny, kept the guys loose but we have a few guys on the Marlies, knocking on the door.

We had it good back then and didn't realize it..

Perfect example: Mats Sundin.. We made the playoffs almost every year just because of him.. Now we CRAVE this player in our system. It's easy to see.

But noooooooo you just have to get rid of whatever little truculence we had left.
Couldn't agree more. I liked Colby, he just had bad luck with the injuries. He'll probably have a bounce back season with another team and play all 82 games.

I am somewhat hoping we don't get Schultz now.. Armstrong was adding anything to the team here.. Might have been different if he had stayed healthy.

That would kind of the douchy move to do though. It's not like it's a massive contract that's being bought out. You are saving cap space and giving the player the opportunity to revive his career elsewhere. If this was Jeff Fingers or something, I'd agree with you that it would be better off burying him in the AHL.

I have no problem with buying him out. I hope he can revive his career elsewhere.

An often injured low scoring plumber like Armstrong is not the "heart and soul" of the team. A heart and soul player actually does his thing on the ice.

I hope Mr. Gives Good Dressing Room enjoys life elsewhere.

Not a fan of buy outs as a means of managing the cap in general, but as buy outs go this is pretty painless. Like everyone else I'm sure, love Army's game in theory, but it just didn't work out here.

For me it's more LC than LACK. Even though Armstrong and Komisarek haven't played great, I never felt it was due to a lack of effort. Komisarek can be effective in the right role, and same goes for Armstrong. They are both considerably overpaid, but Connelly and Lombardi are the guys that seem to be invisible every game.

What's a joke about his comment? He clearly meant that there were no impending moves for which the Leafs were clearing cap space, for example, a Nash trade.

I like Armdog, hopefully he can turn his career around. A great character, locker room guy. That being said, he wasn't contributing on the ice.

I'm going to reserve judgement on this move until after July 1st. Burke will be looking to add some size, two-way play and physicality to our 3rd-line now. If Burke uses the cap-space to land someone like Doan or Prust (especially Doan, he would add a much needed veteran presence to our forward corps) on a reasonable deal this will be a good move.

I love it, just hope he keeps going and doesn't stop getting rid of the useless players who make dollars for nothing and continues to acquire and insert young players with potential. Been waiting years to see this happen.

I think people have forgotten what a heart and soul player looks like in blue and white when they point at guys like Armstrong, or even Kulemin and Schenn.
