Congrats Oilers. You guys probably needed Schultz the most and its only a matter of time now until your team is competitive or even one of the best in the west. Hopefully he turns out to be a good player for you.
well its canada day my time so happy canada day guys
im going to bed and im looking forward to tommorow t watch what should be a fun day... im glad i joined this board i have learned so much already i think with the new rookies we are looking very good for the future
Apologies for the harsh reactions. As a Canucks fan and a sometimes poster on this forum, I'm happy for you guys. This is one step towards building an elite team that can challenge the Canucks in the Northwest Division.
There's nothing better than having two tremendous rivals clash with one another. The intensity of such matches is always fun. It just is not the same when you guys are struggling. I have always admired when two great teams play their hearts out to be the greatest of all. Hopefully, we'll be dueling for top position in the standings one day.
Congratulations on the signing. It's been a great off-season for the Edmonton Oilers. Looking forward to his debut, as well as Nail's, in Vancouver.
I applaud you for not being bitter and resentful. I wish more posters like you were on the Canucks board. Not becuase you are happy for us (okay, maybe a bit), but because you're so darn civil.
As a canucks fan i must say I'm pissed he didn't sign to his home team and my reason for almost hating edmonton is we have to play you guys too many damn times a year lol but the one positive out of this for canuck fans is that by shultz signing with the oilers it makes Edmonton a better team and adds depth to the Vancouver dominated northwest division
Don't know if this was posted already or not, but Ryan Dittrick tweeted, and quoted Schultz, and said that contrary to popular belief the Oilers did not promise him a roster spot and guaranteed ice time.
I feel like this is karma payback for the Pronger situation where Pronger embarassed the Oilers and made it seem like no one wanted to be in Edmonton...
Now a Duck pick spurns them to join Edmonton...
Fitting.
Crazy. I can't believe he chose Edmonton. I mean I wouldn't have chosen Edmonton and I cheer for the team. Considering all the crap that has been flung the Oilers way regarding free agents and players not wanting to play in Edmonton this is a pretty solid victory for the organization.
Now let's not finish in the bottom 2 this upcoming year and I might start believing that things are looking up.

If that really is true, I have a lot more respect for him.

If you want a hometown guy we'll give you Horcoff.
Lots of fortunate things going our way in this rebuild:
- hitting the jackpot with Eberle at 22 pick
- winning lottery to get Taylor Hall
- Having NJ win lottery and allowing us to keep first pick to pick Nuge
- Winning lottery this year to get Yakupov
- now winning the Schultz sweepstakes.
Maybe there is a hockey god smiling down on us after all.. after all those hard years of being the laughing stock of the league.
