Nothing would make me happier than Philly sending Couturier+ to the Jackets for Nash. Please, please, please.

Good lord, they can't help themselves. Like musical chairs in Philly. (If report is true)

So, has the Jackets' asking price come down or do the Flyers value him more than Ryan? If Couturier is involved, we'll know the answer.

I'm told that he is currently outside Mario's home blasting Kenny Loggins' Playing with the Boys from the front lawn.

Mario has yet to come outside.

Hartnell Giroux Nash would be the best line in hockey, assuming Hartnell and Giroux maintain their level of play from last year.

Hopefully, they're stepping up their pursuit of Nash because they got wind of Parise being Pens bound.

I agree with the bolded part. I mean, I really want him, but if we're going 10 years a 7 cap hit would be about tops for me. Worry about having anything higher than that when parise is in his mid late 30's with an 8 mil cap hit.

If that's what he's looking for, I'd look at 5 -7 years but no more.

I mean I'd like to get big wingers, more power forward... Physical with a presence to the net...

I'd rather have Doan...
As much as I'd love Parise, I'm starting to think that if it's going to take 8 mil for 10 years I'd rather look elsewhere.

All in all if we do sign him I'll be happy no matter what. Having wingers for Crosby and Malkin (neal) locked up for a few years is wonderful. I just worry for something way too far in advance (a big cap hit for Parise at 38 years old).

Yeah, I think Holmgren knows the Pens are likely going to add some big pieces very soon and he's trying to keep up in the arms race.

Kunitz - Malkin - Neal is certainly close.
Parise - Crosby - Dupuis is too.

Depends how much better you believe Sid and Geno are than Giroux. I think considerably.

Couturier going to CBJ would be hilarious, and there's no way B. Schenn gets traded, Luke was brought there for a reason, which was to unite the two.

It would take Couturier, Gustafson, a first and a boatload of prospects.

I think it's going to cost Couturier for sure. They probably just don't like the idea of trading guys who they didn't just sign to long-term deals.

If not him someone Philly doesn't really want to let go/shouldn't let go. And if it doesn't take that, man Columbus is the biggest tease in the NHL.

And I get wanting Nash (the player, maybe not the contract), but if this happens, that will have to be one odd locker room with so many changes. And think about the pressure when things don't go right going into another summer.

Columbus could have just kept their pick and drafted Couturier last year but I guess that's why they're Columbus.

Although the NHL set its salary cap for next season at $70.2 million, there is no one on either side of the CBA bargaining table who believes that is what the final figure will be if and when a new contract is settled.

There is little doubt that in the next CBA – regardless of whether there is a mini-lockout – the cap will go under that $70 million figure. Two-thirds of the NHL’s 30 franchises already feel this past season’s cap of $64.3 million was too high.
While there's 12-19m in space (Martin and TK), I don't think Shero is going to use it all in long term contracts.

It's an interview with Eklund, so guys, take it with a grain of salt ...

Eklund says, he thinks Parise signs with Kings, Suter with Detroit or Nashville, but Shane Doan wants to come here. Apperantly, Eklund to Doan's friends and even Roenick said Doan wants to sign with us.

Personally, I would be happy with Doan, but for me, he's no.3 on my forward wish-list :

1.Parise
2.Whitney
3.Doan

2009 Kunitz is better than Hartnell is now, but Kunitz hasn't played with that aggressive edge for some time now, imo. And Nash > Neal. Neal is perfect because he can snipe Geno's perfect feeds, but Nash can create on his own, which is something Neal can't really do - at least not on the level of Nash.

Parise Sid Dupuis would be good, but again, I think Hartnell > Dupuis just bc of the game he brings.

Giroux is an incredible player, though. He isn't on Sid or Geno's level, but he's getting damn close and he's a total package. Great shot, great dangles, great IQ on both sides of the ice. He's a top tier PK'er - at least in the system he's in. When he's on that PK, with our PP, I worry about shorties, constantly.

I'd take Doan over Whitney but I'd be happy with either. And even though that's probably made up, those are pretty reasonable predictions actually. Parise would be absolutely perfect in LA.

What a load of crap. Other than Semin and Parise (the 2 elite wingers) there's a bunch who'll fall into that 3-5.5m range. All of whom would make the Pens better than returning to Sully and Dupuis.

Mueller
Lattendress
Hudler
Doan
Penner
Huselius
Smyth
PA Parenteau
Samuelsson
Boyes

Yeah, I like Doan more than Whitney but different players. Whitney is more skilled. I think Doan is more of the playoff warrior type. Doan is effective even when he isn't scoring.

The Cap is also something I worry about. A lot of people seem to think the cap is going to go down. If we sign Parise to this massive deal, with Sid's new deal, and Letang and Geno needing new deals soon, we could easily screw ourselves out of some of our core.
