You seriously don't do Bouwmeester for Boychuk and Thomas?

If the price was right, I'd love to get JayBo.

He hasn't earned his contract, but that doesn't make him a bad defenseman (just an easy target). I'm a huge Seidenberg fan but JayBo is better. He can carry a top pairing, whereas Seid's isn't as good if he has to carry a partner. JayBo's an elite, ELITE skater, and an excellent puckmover.

I'd do Thomas and McQuaid for JayBo. Even money. They get a good young player and get out of the contract a year early. We ice what may be the best defense in the league...

Chara-Seid's
JayBo-Boychuk
Ference-Hamilton

And we'd still have access to all of Savard's LTI exemption.

If Calgary is moving Bouwmeester, the only reason is flexibility, so Thomas doesn't make any sense (IMO).

If the Bruins have 6.6 million to spend they should be throwing it at parise not looking at Jaybo

Having Seidenberg under contract for 2 mil less than his market value (see Wideman) PLUS including Boychuk in the trade PLUS LTIR-ing Marc Savard offsets paying a 5 - 5.5 million a year D man 6.6.

Artemis if Jay were hitting the market as a UFA tomorrow what do you think he'd get? Dude has been logging big minutes since he was 18 do you think he can't get what Wideman did?
He'd probably get some stupidly outrageous contract, just as Wideman did. Just because idiot GMs give out contracts like that and Gomez's doesn't mean Chiarelli has to (thank God). That's why he locks up his guys early, for decent cap hits.

Yeah, Bouwmeester logs big minutes. That is the ONLY thing I've ever seen him praised for. Sorry, "big minutes" aren't worth $6.68 million per year with a NTC. Not in my book. And Chiarelli isn't about to start rearranging his team to fit him in.

many teams need to get to the cap floor. It's been talked about many times and it could happen if you believe it or not. It's FREE cap hit that cost nothing. Someone like the Isles would be all for that.

If there's one team that could be talked into taking Tim Thomas's contract, it's the Calgary Flames.

That contract needs to go to a team struggling to make the cap floor. Calgary (like Columbus) isn't a cheap team, but a dumb team. They are not one and the same.

my point is if they figure out a way to take on a 6.6 million contract I don't think it should be on Jaybo.

I think they're desperate enough to ditch Bouwmeester that they'd consider it.

Yes a sign and trade is possible ..but you get less value ..lets say its Krejci will you be happy with that.. seeing Krejci leave for picks is hard for me .. almost puts the blame on him and it wasn't his fault

Even if they ditch Bouwmeester they're still well above the cap floor. Obviously things will change after July 1 but Calgary isn't one of those teams.

I am looking to move Thomas to free up cap space plus the LTIR for Savard gives us room but to your question would i be ok with Krejci being moved. Sure I am ok with anyone being moved if it makes the bruins better.

Jaybo is the perfect 2nd line anchor to solidify our D. He isnt a physical beast, but he can log some serious minutes. And if Julien can turn Wideman into a norris candidate, who knows what he can do with Jaybo.

I don't see where the perception that Calgary is desperate to rid themselves of his contract. He's a top 3 D-man(if not top 2) on average and is overpaid. This isn't Gomez stuff here. I mean, if wideman and company get 5 mil per year, Jaybo is prob worth what? 5.5?(if not more compared to wideman). They aren't desperate.

As someone else pointed out, elite skating ability, would really help boston rush. Logs a ton of minutes and can be a solid 1-2 combo with Chara IMO.
