Mike Brown should have an 'A' on his shirt.

The people suggesting brown don't know anything about hockey....

Liles, he's a veteran presence on this team who does a lot for the community and is a good hockey player.

Do a home/away split like Boston did this past year with ferrence and Kelly. Grabo gets it at home and Lupul gets it on the road

Going into this season, they should name Grabo and Lupul as the Alternate Captains.

This would set the tone as to what type of work effort they want out of this team.

Lol imo, lupul grabo and liles deserve the A the most, any of them should be fine

NOTE: grabo is already wearing the A for those who didn't know

I'm thinking Lupul, wouldn't be surprised with JML/Grabo though

Yes he was but only because Army was always injured. I think we'd like to see him given the "A" officially and be recognised as a leader on the ice and in the room.

I just don't see Komiserak getting scratched much under Carlyle. Believe it or not, I think he will final step up a bit. Probably a bottom pairing guy still, but none the less I think he should play all year.

I think it will probably be Grabovski, Lupul, Komiserak next season.

Grabo - Heart and soul guy
Lupul - Always seems to be making everyone around the team comfortable, seems like a real leader to the guys, composed most of the time. Even if he is a little scandalous, lol.
Komiserak - I just don't see the guy being stripped of it. His confidence is already shot.

That being said I would want to give Komiserak's to Kessel. Not because he is a leader or anything, but because I do think he works extremely hard, and I want Carlyle to show that he recognizes his importance on the team. I don't want Kessel walking in 2014...

When Komi muffs up coverage or misses a hit and lets the forward by him for a goal against, Carlyle will sit him, just like last year.

And Komi can step up just like fans have been saving for the last few years. But I don't see anything to give confidence of improvement from last year. In fact, I would suggest keeping expectation low on him or you are going to get people disappointed when he underwhelms again.

I can't wait until Komisarek's contract finally comes off the books. What a waste of cap space.

He should be better under Carlyle, better than Schenn was. Komisarek is actually a good defensive D on a defensive oriented team. I rated him low on the depth charts post but more based on his past seasons under Wilson, not what I remember of him on Montreal.

Komiserak's value actually just went up with the cap floor rising.. Still he's no dummy, when he submits his 10 possible trade destinations, I doubt there would be any sub - cap floor teams on it

Maybe Burke did this so that another player can step right in and grab that jersey number.

The real question is who should replace Komisarek as the Alternate? He has shown he does not deserve to be a leader on this team, locker room aside I don't care if he's vocal in there on the ice or in the press box he can not lead. He can't rally the troops on the bench or tell someone to get it together when he's such a mess.

I don't even like Phanuef as captain for that matter but that's not changing.

C- Phanuef
A- Grabovski
A- JML or Lupul, Kessel's worn it too but the only letter's I want on his jersey are Toronto Maple Leafs and Kessel

I get that many don't like Komisarek, and a large part of that is due to his contract. But this "waste of cap space" thing is just nonsense.

It's not like the Leafs have been finalizing a trade only for it to fall through because of cap reasons, or like the Leafs are going to be at all attractive to any marquee free agents out there.

Horrible contract? Yes. Has it killed the franchise the way most make it out to be doing? Hell no.

Note - his buyout penalty doesn't look half bad at all...

If Komisarek made 400k and didn't have that NMC clause I'd still hate him.

Do people seriously like a guy who goes so far out of his way to be physical that he is constantly out of position and burned by forwards, or takes stupid roughing and holding penalties that our god awful PK has to try and bail him out on a nightly basis? I'd rather have Aki Berg out there. Not even joking about that.

His buyout on it's own doesn't look half bad but when you combine it with Army and maybe Lambo and TC it does start to add up .

This is my absolutely inefficient and roundabout conspiracy theory that makes no sense...therefore 90% chance of actually happening.
