I don't know that Gallagher is worth all that much just yet in a trade.

It's good value, wouldn't want the habs to give up all that though

A very similar thread is in play and both sides are saying no.

I dunno is value NHL wise. My personal opinion of him is quite high tho. He is talented and hustles very hard, play with an edge. Gionta/Marchand type of player. Always useful.

dont get me wrong i am a BIG fan of Patrick Kane, but i have a big feeling that gallagher will somehow turn into a high end player, just with his style, he never gives up, always hustlin! I've personnaly havent seen much young player pulling some sick move like that, kids got some crazy hands, if i were the habs i would hold him tight!

just wait till he bulks up a bit

I don't hang out much on this part of the board. Didn't saw it, didn't really look either. It just pop out in my head that Kane could be an impact player that might be not a pipe dream to change organization.

terrible, doesn't make sense for either. The Habs need to improve their D first and foremost, Kane while highly skilled and a consistent 70+ pt getter would likely not be the same player on the Habs and not really what they need. If the Habs are going to unload that much in a trade they should focus on something that is more pressing like fixing the soft D they currently have.

In addition, the Habs should not be looking to make trades that see them sending a high draft pick plus 2 of their top 5 or so prospects along with one of their best forwards. With the new management in place, the Habs should not rush things with hasty moves (or overbloated UFA contracts starting tomorrow)

I'm sure hawks fans will not like it either, they are looking to win now and if they trade Kane, it would likely be for assets that would help them win now so guys like Tinordi, Gallagher and a 2nd rounder shouldn't be what they would want in return.

They keep insulting his off ice "antics," I don't think they love him.

Come on now, not every habs fan is either in love with him, or thinks anything at all about these supposed personal issues of his either.

As for Gallagher having seen him play wiht Vancouver a number of times as well as the WJC"s I absolutely believe he''ll be a top 6 forward in the NHL, or a great 3rd liner at worst...but I don't think his value is huge in a trade.

That trade is a top 6 center, a potential top 4 or top 6 d-man and a potential top 6 or top 9 forward AND a 2nd round pick.

For a smallish winger.

That's not the way to building a consistent contender, and definitely not a move a new GM is making.

Patrick Kane is one of the most exciting players in the league to me. I wouldn't be suprirsed at all if he had a 100 point season in the next 3 seasons.

Just doesn't make sense right now for Bergevin to do a move like that though.

I would be all over this from a Chicago point of view. Montreal gives too much.

The value is close, but Montreal loses the one key component they can not afford to lose in Tinordi. Tinordi and Beaulieu are the most untouchable prospects we have, along with Galchenyuk. If we lose one of them, we better be getting a player with skill AND size. Kane would be great, but not at that cost. This is not meant as an insult to Kane or Hawks fans, it is just the reality of our team's needs.

So, value is close, but Habs would say "no". Hawks should, as well since they are in "win now" mode and should use their young assets and picks to get the top 2nd line center they need.

Yes. Win now mode consists of trading one of their best offensive players and main contributors in the playoffs.

Sigh...please read what I write next time. I said the Hawks should say "no" and should use their young assets and picks to get the 2nd line center they need. I think players like Saad, Hayes, McNeil, Morin, and picks should be packaged to get the best 2nd line center you can get. Is my position clearer?

Yes. But no to Saad. He's too valuable.

Well, Kane is a party boy, do Habs fans really want him on St-Catherine post games followed by poor performance on ice next day because his liver is giving him tummy troubles ?

NO from habs' pov. who plays with kane anyway? we get rid of our best center and create a hole there and deal our grittiest d prospect with size and leadership - in years to create a hole there. makes no sense

I've always wanted to meet a star NHL player. When did you meet Kane?

Since you know so much about his character, I mean. Right?

As we know with so many cubs players Chicago is more or less salt lake city Utah (sarcasm)

Plekanec is nice but rest of package is lacking

If Hawks moved Kane it would be to upgrade the team now and this package simply doesn't do that

What? Seriously? Kane is basically irreplaceable. Only one of him in the league. Good but not great value for the best player in the trade. If both teams have to, good trade.

Kane sober might be irreplaceable, Kane as he is....not so much. At best hes a 30 goal scorer. There might only be one Patrick Kane but there is also Pominville, Sedin,Marleau,Nash, E Kane, Clarkson as other 30 goal scorers plus the other 62 players who scored more than his 23 this year. Yes I know "he was trying our Center" but people need to not treat him like hes a 45 goal scorer coming off a bad year. He's the 4th best goal scorer on his team only one ahead of Stalberg who incidentally is almost 5.5 mil cheaper. Hes not even the best Kane in the league. Tiny rant here but people like to **** on Lucic cause he only hit 30g once and yet hes cheaper, hits and fights.

Memo to HFBoards:

If you include Toews or Kane in any trade proposal, you have to understand their value to our city is more than just the points totals they put up every year. Kane and Toews brought hockey back to Chicago. Kane and Toews broke the 2nd longest Cup drought in history for Chicago. Kane and Toews symbolize the end of the black chapter that was Dollar Bill and the start of the new chapter that is his son. Kane and Toews are not just hockey players to Chicago, they are sports symbols, and eventually will become city icons. Sorry, you can't have them.
