Thank goodness. I was worried we were going to sign him. Now we just need Eaton and Jurcina to sign elsewhere.

I'd rather he just start trading some of these younsters for top 6 players who make sense, before he risks lowering those youngsters value by having them buried in the AHL.

There is a logjam coming, and making a significant trade now would make a lot of sense. I'll be pretty pissed if Bobby Ryan is traded for a reasonable package & he isn't an islander. There's really no excuse as to why a team with an immediate need for talent & excitement, with arguably a top 3 prospect pool in the NHL, shouldn't make a deal. They'd still have a top 10 prospect pool after any Ryan trade.

It's been too damn long. I want the club to rejoin the NHL. That means bringing in an elite player to go with our lone star.

Ummm.... take out his 40 goal year, and his avg is 21.16 goals per season. He's averaged 38.4 assists in that time.

Quote:
If you want to take out his 43 goal season (and to be fair I'm also taking out his 06-07 where he only played 19 games, he's averageing 18.5 goals & 30.6 assists per season. not quite the same as 20-25 & 30-40.

That's a 2nd line player, not a 1st line player. oh sure Boyes would be better with JT then he's been, but like PAP & KO, Boyes isn't a true 1st line winger either.

We've had the same needs for 3 years now. Please for the love of god, get 1 of them already.
Well, discounting that your math is wrong (make sure you're counting the two times he was traded as one season each) Wasn't it you that said PaP was a 2nd line player? Aren't we trying to replace PaP? How do you propose we get this 1st line player? Do you think big UFA's are going to sign on a team that has finished bottom 5 the last 4 years?

Does Semin play LW or RW? Every website I go to says something different.

Yes,there is gonna be a logjam coming.

I never expected the isles to be serious bidders for Ryan because of his $5m+salary.
If the isles had $5m to put towards 1 player,I'd rather have Yandle.

Wow Bob Mckenzie just said on NHL Network even though Avalanche say they have a deal with Carkner the player and his rep are saying they don't.

Corvo Back to Carolina 1yr $2mil

Stu Bickel back to Rangers 2yr $1.5 ($750,000) per.

Obviously would like to get younger/better but I wouldn't mind Salvador as a bottom pairing dman.

Per Staples twitter:

Quote:
#Isles have also inquired on D Bryce Salvador, among numerous other teams.

I wanted Carkner, I thought he would be a good bottom pairing guy who could protect Tavares

you're right, i messed up the math there.

I propose we get the 1st line player by trading for one if they can't sign one. Bobby Ryan is out there. Bobby Ryan should be traded for. It doesn't set the rebuild back. it pushes it forward. If it winds up costing a 1st, and Strome/Nino and another piece, then so be it. This is why they built up the prospect pool in the first place.

Just how much longer do you expect the SnoWang plan to be in place before they actually see some tangible results?

Yashin made Jason Blake a 40 goal scorer and was almost a ppg with a **** team.

Ill take Semin on JTs wing in a heartbeat.

I'd like Bobby Ryan too, and I agree it's going to have to come through trade. I'd trade a package including anyone not in the NHL to get that piece at this point. Here's the thing though, I look at players that fit that mold, and the ones that were traded over the past few years.... and I see guys that either had NMC/NTC's, a prohibitive contract or a good young roster player was going the other way.

Brad Boyes might not be the answer, but he's got as good a chance to be effective as PaP did. And honestly, right now that's an important thing for Snow to be looking for. It doesn't prevent the Islanders from adding another player down the line, like overpaying PaP might have done.

Yeah it's not like Yashin was a main reason we became a playoff team in 2001-02. And there were no JTs on that line either.

I remember Yash playing pretty darn well considering what he had to play with, he was just getting paid far too much for what he was conceivably able to do....imagine if Yashin could have played with JT.

Salvador is good, but he's 36 years old. You're only asking for trouble with 3 35+ year old Dmen in your top 6.
