Hockey pants for the skinny

Hey guys, I'm looking into getting new pants as my old ones are actually a junior xl and are just too short and too tight but I can squeeze in for now. I'm about 5'11 and 150-155 lbs with a very slim waist probably around 29-30 inches. Thus I have some trouble finding a nice medium with pants.

I only play pick up and rec now so I'm just looking for something with adequate padding and lightweight but I am in between sizes on a small and medium. I'm swimming in a medium but feel like the small is just too short. Are there any brands out there that run longer? I know some used to make small tall options but I haven't been able to find anything. I'm looken spend between $50-$80 bucks and was hoping you guys had some advice? Thanks

I'm 5'10 with a 30" waist and just picked up the Tackla 2440s in the 46 Tall.

Fit like a glove.

Did you by chance get them online? If so where?

Online. Just Google "tackla 2440 tall hockey pants"

There's a dozen or so sites that sell them. Prices vary, and some don't have the leg zipper. Just have to do a bit of Googling to find the ones you want.

Yeah I found a few places, they're a bit more expensive than I wanted to go but I've long heard that tacklas are worth every penny so I may have to give them a shot I've never had a pair.

You can also try running a skate lace around the waist band.

I found the bauer supreme one80's in a small/tall and they're more in my price range but do you guys think its worth it to spend a little extra and get the tacklas versus these? I've never owned any bauer pants

Tackla > Everyone.

You might want to try a medium CCM pant as well, since they fit snugger (but bulkier) around the waist/ hips and are shorter as well.

My build is similar to yours, maybe 7-10 lbs heavier but with a slightly bigger waist. I had tried both Bauers and Tacklas, and bought the 2440s. They were much lighter and slimmer fitting than the bauer.

+1 for Tacklas in tall, if you can swing it.

Also check out Reebok and CCM, I thought they were a little longer. Worth a look anyway.

Sounds like the Tacklas are worth it, would you recommend a 46 or 48? My guess is I could get into both with the 46 being a bit more snug.

Also, I found them on a couple sites but none that I've ever ordered from before. Would you recommend either HockeyTron or HockeyGear? I've used monkey exclusively in the past and just kinda want to make sure these other guys are legit as I don't order a ton of stuff online hockeywise.

Thanks,

I purchased mine from HockeyGear with no complaints. They come with the leg zippers. Haven't bought anything else from them, so I cannot comment on their other merchandise.

Size depends on if you like a snug or loose fit. You could probably get by with either 46 or 48, but it comes down to your call.

I think 46" tall would work for you, but a place with a good return policy is a smart idea.

Decided to go with the 46 Tall, hopefully they arrive quickly and with no issue.

Thought about getting the 48 but I prefer things to fit more snug and I really have no hips/waist its almost embarrassing at times

A girdle may work well for you as well. With the way they're designed to fit tight to the body, you could probably wear a medium to get the length you need and still have it be tight enough in the waist to work for you.

Definitely keep us updated! I'm 6'1" with a 30" waist, so this thread is pretty helpful.

As long as they are not too uncomfortably tight, go with the 46 as the waist will stretch out by at least an inch or two after about 15-20 wearings. I purchased a 54 when I was a bit "larger" when I started playing, then lost about 40 lbs this past fall and am now about a 35-inch waist, and replaced the 54s with a 50.

Yeah I went with the 46, I have yet to receive them so not sure the fit but I most likely have a sub 30 inch waist. Unfortunately blessed with no hips and stick legs, wear a belt with 30 W dress pants.

35 pounds ago I wore 33" dress pants and squeezed into a 46, it was just a bit small for me. So under 30" you should be fine.

For anyone still interested, I received the pants last night and the fit is pretty solid. With the 46 I actually have a little bit of room, not loose at all but also not squeezing in. Even with the tall option I could probably have another inch and be fine but the length should be fine as well. Can't wait to wear them out on the ice, they are definitely way more padded than my 5ks so overall I'm pretty happy with the purchase, the Tacklas seem to be worth the extra money.
