Sorry, I should've said fix the depth THEN go after Doan next week.

And NJ has had too many money troubles to lock up both Parise and Brodeur. Parise reportedly isn't even worried about his own contract there, but how they'll be able to afford paying a good team if he signs for even close to his market value.

Staal signed a 10-year deal worth $60 million (same contract the Penguins offered) with Carolina.

30 minutes away from finding out if players are willing to compromise bloated paychecks for a chance to play with this "core."

Jahns replied to my tweet, here's what he said.

@adamjahns
"@BBH1234 You think the Hawks will land anybody on day one?" I think they should sign McClement.

Then one guy responded, and Jahns tweeted right back.

@adamjahns
"@Buchpiece: @adamjahns @bbh1234 why Clement? We have an average fourth line center who can win draws in Mayers." Mayers shouldn't be at C

This is where I somewhat disagree with Jahns. I don't think we should get McClement and I think Mayers is a great fit at fourth line center. If he can defend and win draws, as well as agitate, he's perfect for the role.

Guys like Suter and Parise could get ten-year deals worth $75 million from the Hawks if they were willing to take it and Bowman was willing to dish it out.

Come on Bowman. Sign Suter and completely redeem everything you've done in the past 2 seasons.

Didn't hear it with my own ears, but I guess Dreger was confirming the Hawks have interest in Brodeur.

Yep, and he's requiring all suitors (see what I did there) to come to the farm if they're serious. So far it's only been reported that the Wings honchos are gonna bite, but I don't think Suter's decision will be a quick one.

It's been touched upon that it's a logical landing spot. What's weird is that they may end up shipping Crawford to New Jersey if they sign Brodeur, despite the fact that Brodeur is Crawford's idol and obvious mentor.

Not surprised TSN saying #Blackhawks are interested in Martin Brodeur. I asked GM Stan Bowman about goalie and he didn't rule it out.
That would be amazing. He's obviously not in his prime, but that's one of those things you tell to your hockey buddies, right? "Dude, could you imagine if the Hawks got Brodeur?" is something you'd say before laughing.

reading some of the bowman hate in here makes me laugh. The way some people talk about him makes it seem as though he traded away like 3 superstar players for Jessiman, Filitov and Skille then drafted nothing but goalies for 3 seasons.

Brodeur looked pretty damned amazing during the playoffs last year for an old guy past his prime.
