But I suppose it was a little shortsighted of me to say he isn't an improvement over Glass.
If you look at the advanced stats. Poni is a mind-boggling upgrade over Glass, it's almost stupid to look at the numbers.

"by any stretch of the imagination" are some pretty strong words, in my opinion. This quote goes much deeper than just finding a no. 2 goaltender then calling it a day.

Yea that for sure sounds like more than just a backup. Since that is an amazingly obvious need, he wouldn't use such strong language just for that.

Lets get Arnott signed to the third line and that will give us three big fwds this season with lots of vet experience.

Miettinen-Slater-Thorburn

That's what I think our lines will look like next year. If that RW spot is any of Semin/Jagr/Kostitsyn/Huselius/Wellwood, I think we'd have a really good line up.

Quick! Someone go put a bunch of good stuff in there

I love the top 9 forward model better. Harder for other teams to match up, and easier to compensate when a line goes cold. You just need to have players who have a clue where there end is and I think we have some of those.

Very nice.

I am all for this top 9 as well. In another 3 years maybe a top 12.

Do we now sign Stapleton as a depth player or let young call ups enter the line-up when injuries occur? does he just not fit the size model of the Jets?

I really like Stapleton. I think he provides a good option for what he is. However there are several guys we should really be giving a honest shot: Cormier, Macho, Klingy to start. Thats why I personally wasn't too upset that Glass left. I think Machacek is a better option. The guy can actually play hockey.

There should be some great battles for the few open spots at training camp.

With how Machacek played at the tail end of last season, I would be disappointed if he wasn't given a chance!

As for Stapelton, I believe he is too small for what the Jets have in mind. Both Olli and Poni are big bodies. If they have done anything in their 2 years its to prove that they want to get bigger and tougher to play against, how they're drafting and signing is showing that. Hopefully they give Cormier the spot.

I really think Timmy is history with the Jets. Just too small for where the Jets are going. And given that Chevy has indicated that he isn't finished yet, there may be another big body coming in.

I too feel that Machacek and Cormier should be given every chance possible to fill in the depth player roles. They both meet the size requirements.

Our back up plan.

Ufa goalies left. In no specific order.
Brent johnson
Ty conklin
Dan ellis
Al montoya
Ex moose Alex auld
I personally would prefer conklin or ellis but have feeling we turn to ex moose Alex auld.

That'll depend on how Kane's contract negotiations are going. I don't want to trade Kane but if we have to I'd be ok if Ryan was involved.

I like the size chevy is bringing up front to our team. I think we are going to be alot tougher to play against next season.

I'd like to see us bring in:

Peter Mueller (to play wing with Kane/Joikinen)
Bryce Salvador (Buff babysitter)
Al Montoya (ok backup)

I can't remember which reporter had this, but the reported ask for Ryan I read earlier was a couple young strong pieces including a Top 6 center, so I doubt we have what it takes.

I'm sure they'd take Kane off our hands.
