5 million for Kane would seem pretty high in light of Duchene's contract.

I agree. 3.5-3.75 a year for 2 years is fair.

According Geno Reda, we're "really interested" in Parise.

It's great to hear. It just seems so surreal to even think about it....

Nj is going to be in trouble. They lose both Brodeur and Hedberg and can't spend any money to get someone else.

Just imagine the insane overpayment to get him to play for the Jets. Pretty sure his contract alone would get us to the cap floor.

Reda said that it's really obvious that the Jets are "really interested" in him. Wow, if nothing else it makes the Jets look less of a hyped-up AHL franchise in the eyes of media in other cities.

1 thing I don't get is IF the problem in NJ is the ownership not having any money, shouldn't they be trying to deal Kovalchuck?

The guy is going to be getting 11 million in real money next year and 67 million over the next 5.

(snip)

It was an off-hand comment from an agent at the NHL entry draft in Pittsburgh last week, but to a Winnipegger it was like a punch in the mouth.

"Most guys that have no-movement clauses have a list of cities they won't go. Winnipeg is on almost all of those lists," said the high-powered agent.

For sure. But like in life, it's better to pay once for quality, then pay less repeatably for garbage.

They should be but I doubt they are, and doubt anyone would take a chance at that contract.

Adam Proteau ‏@Proteautype

Before you believe a GM who says he's "in on Parise & Suter", remember theoretically, all single dudes are in on Kate Upton.

Apologies, didn't see a thread or much discussion. I suppose I could've looked more.

I agree, and be all for the overpayment. But I don't want the Jets to look stupid the way NJ does with that Kovi contract.

I hope the Kane deal isn't for just 2 years. If we eventually decide he doesn't fit the Jets, that short contract makes him difficult to trade

I agree. I'm good on the overpayment part, but that contract is crazy.

Winnipeg and Vancouver front runners for Hudler.

Hudler update: Hearing #NHLJets and #Canucks have called. More teams could be interested, but as of right now WPG and VAN are favorites.

Does he realize he's probably going to be playing in Hamilton?
