I know it is hyperbole, but I wouldn't say Doan is the most overrated player in the league. I would venture to say he has been extremely underrated through most of his career playing out of the spotlight in Phoenix. He isn't amazing by any stretch, but I think his leadership qualities are highly desirable.

I gotta say, Doan is a classic DW player. He's the type of player that has intangibles that I can see DW opening up the checkbook for.

******* ********

Confirmed to me by 2 sources, seems like Salvador has a deal very close to agreed and expected to make an announcement tomorrow AM.

******* ********

#Isles not in on Salvador anymore. Hearing #SJSharks and #Habs with some interest. But nothing close to concrete there.

BS. The Sharks need third liners. They already have 5 defensemen making 2.5 mill+

From what I've heard that source isn't reliable.

I just started following him today. So I don't if he's reliable or not. Are the sources reliable that told you he wasn't reliable?

He's quickly developing a rep as being a joke. Next closest thing to Eklund on twitter than Eklund himself.

I like the qualities Doan would bring. He usually plays well against the Sharks. If Nabby was still here, my guess is that Semin would be more seriously considered. I cant see him come this far west without a (Russian) friend on the team. We will never see Parise nor Suter in teal. Nash is really intriguing but I dont like any of the players involved. DW says no on Couture; And I REALLY dont want Joe$ or Clowe leaving. So, lets wait it out until July 7!

If you're attached to 4th period, you're not reliable until you show otherwise.

Aside from Parise, what top 6 wingers are available via UFA?

Alex Semin, Shane Doan, Teemu Selanne, and Jaromir Jagr are pretty much it that scored 50 or more last season. Steve Sullivan, Kyle Wellwood, and Petr Sykora scored over 40 and Andrei Kostitsyn had 36 in 72 games. That's really about it. Everyone else is glorified 3rd liners or worse.

Thanks, good to know. I will stop following. I don't need another Eklund in my life...

******* ******** is not a legitimate source. please do not use it to post rumors. If I'm not mistaken, his twitter url is even blocked by our filter because too many posters were trying to pawn of his BS as actual insider info.

the only sources we accept on HF as legitimate are actual media outlets and (unfortunately) hockeybuzz.

Good to know, thanks Nem. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm surprised that hockeybuzz is still considered a legitimate outlet...

Doan will probably get $5m if he isn't signing with Phoenix, but I would take him for $4.25m tops. Then trade Clowe for two lesser players to get some depth going.

it's no problem. It's hard to keep track of the legitimacy of every twitter account.

As for hockeybuzz, I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

My guess is they keep the lights on around here to some degree Maybe if we start a sponsorship drive and get enough people to sponsor the site, we can ban Hockeybuzz!

he-who-shall-not-be-named also has a degree of media credibility thanks to appearing on Rogers Sportsnet a few years ago. I dunno if that factors in or not.

Sharks signed C Bracken Kearns.

For the A, I assume.

Hahaha awesome Potter reference! I'm going to call him from now on. And I'm still blown away that he was allowed on that show.

Darren Dreger was giving it to him today on Twitter. Loved it.

Of that list, Parise, Semin and Kostitsyn are highly unlikely. Selanne and Jagr are inconcievable. Doan would be very possible if Phoenix has no owners...

Wellwood is a possibility, if he is not irked. Sykora is another possibility; Sullivan is probably the best bet.

I do want this team to get a little younger on the wings. If this means trading Clowe for youth and then signing a FA, so be it. If it means trading Murray for youth and not signing anyone, that'd also be fine.

Never read harry potter. I know the reference is far far older than that though.

The fun thing? Darren Dreger might still have been working at Sportsnet when Eklund was there. Or it might have been the year he left and Eklund was their attempt at getting eyeballs since everyone with a real interest in rumors would be watching TSN with Dreger and Bobby Mac.
